Yea Eldo was surprisingly good today. I caught the rope drop on lower mooseknuckles, but that was actually not good really with many rocks lurking just below the surface. Everything else was nice though many good tree lines filled w/ surfy higher density pow I wasn't hitting much of anything hard. Place could go from a decent compromise to excellent with some minor tree thinning one of these summers.

MJ skied great too. Snowed hard all day. Binding deep at the crack of 10 when I got there, PLENTY of boot top to knee deep pockets. FB page said still snowing too. I lapped my own tracks all day, not quite free refills, but Damn nice.

Vail was amazing today, no people, pounding all day. Went up 21 and the gate at the top was closed at 11, heard bombing all the way up along rasputins etc, echoed all around the valley. Caught that rope drop and had deep softness all through the back, snowed hard till they kicked us out. Front side stashes were great.

Tomorrow will be $$ Go get it and report, I gotta split

As previously stated no pattern change until middle of Feb at the earliest. Some storms will top the ridge from time to time and might deliver a little snow here or there but not much.
    Truly prophetic.

Today was one of the few days that I was sad I didn't buy my Dora pass the season...

The real problem with that mountain is the consistent wind. It's worse than Breckenridge. It seems like it rips the snow off any slope that should be decent skiing.

60s-70s in Denver for at least 5 days. Hoping some courses and trails dry out for the weekend. Glad winter returned for a day.

Your welcome. I left WP on Tuesday after skiing there 4 days. Hopefully it keeps up.

The wind did a real number on snow in RMNP. We stayed below treeline this morning, even in dense trees from N all the way around to SE was heavily wind affected. Due east and low elevation seemed best where at least it was surfy instead of slab. Too bad. Lots of new snow...

^^^ Thanks for that update. I was hoping to get up into the IPW on Saturday, but I think the combination of higher winds and warm temps will have ruined all the new snow by then.

Where were you in the park? I was thinking of heading up from HV and then skinning the road to put some mileage in on Saturday

Interesting cause the wind was ripping when the storm started but it was really pretty calm throughout the storm, at least in town. Temps were super warm though so not surprised by that.

The forecast yesterday showed a lull in the winds for a few hrs, but rest assured they were back and raging this morning.

Not saying the skiing is all bad. Just only good in isolated areas, and then distinctly heavy. We were around bear lake.

I'm saying it's bad, for much of the west. Freezing level to be 12000ft again by Monday, down south. We've had about six inches since late December. I want moisture!! Hasn't gotton below freezing at night for several weeks. WTF.

On the WP side of the divide, the winds seemed really elevation dependent at the resort. Not bad down lower (gusty in the 10-20mph) and sustained blasting up top (sustained 40-50mph). I wonder if the same thing happened? Also, it seemed way more windy on the east side of Berthoud, FWIW.

I was speculating it might have to do with the warm chinook winds. A friend said Berthoud had minimal wind effect. Bear lake is quite a bit further down from the divide, so more time for winds to build strength and increase temperature.

Well, I thought it was pretty good this morning. Here's some clips from Loveland, with the camera angle better this time. Nothing that cool, just fun!

Long range looking downright depressing for the mountains. Bikes, fly rods, even sandals will be coming out this month.
