I was in Colorado last week and all I can say is thank God for the new snow on Friday. That made it tolerable, but it sure was brutally cold over the weekend. The positive is it kept a lot of people off the mountain.

2/4 is a Monday. I'll be crushing the groomers over the weekend and Monday morning before heading to Breck to unleash lawyer whoopass on some deadbeats.

How's the beav lately? I'll be up there this weekend at a friend's place, and MLK crowds and sketchy conditions are making me wonder if skiing will even be worth it.

The snow quality in Lulus/Humbug/One Eyed Jack at Breck is quite good. Peak 7 looks to be pretty wind fuct.

It's not good. Bring the rock skis if you want to ski Grouse Mountain.

I left the 9th and it was skiing mediocre but getting worse. Not much new snow since then so I would expect it to be pretty bad. The holiday crowds absolutely destroyed the hill. Same with Vail. The Vail bowls were OBLITERATED by everyone and their mother cousing etc. Since Vail is so huge there are some decent spots. Mostly NE to E facing. Anything W-SW-S-SE is in very bad shape. Blue Sky is horrible. Do not be tempted to go ski there just because its open. Cloud 9 is bad but Big Rock park is, pardon the pun, rock city. I scraped my skis quite a bit there. Its nasty.

Temp inversions and the sun really did a number on Siberia, China etc. Crusty crud mess all over the bowls. It was warm back there for days, in the 40F range.

Not sure where or when yet, but given the shitty conditions in the mountains and the nice weather down in town, I'm getting outside somewhere. I'd love for Buff Creek to be rideable this weekend, but I'm not sure that is going to happen yet.
