Dry blocking system in the works. Isn't there a football game on the 7th?

    Coincidence? I think not.

Drove by Loveland..looked like it was snowing pretty good at 3ish...any first hand info? Have they gotten their heads out of their asses and started opening more terrain?

Yes. South Chutes, Cats, and a couple off 4 have been opening intermittently.

I skied Loveland on Sunday... under Chair 4 was garbage for the most part. There were more ropes and fences over there than anything. I didn't see South Chutes open, but then again I was only on Chair 4 for one run before I headed back over to Chair 1.

The stuff under Chair 1 didn't look horrible, and someone had clearly been skiing it since there were dozens of tracks. That being said, I don't think LL will be worth hitting until they get at least another 2-3 feet. It's in pathetic shape.

Two runs now that the GFS has showed the Monday/Tuesday system a bit further north...

I saw you while driving up the canyon from Golden to where I turned off on 40.
I was torn between Loveland and MJ, opted for MJ which didn't suck.

if we get something on monday/tuesday, that would just be a bonus. At least it's been super cold, around -25 in gunny last night.

18z GFS still showed the open trough moving through Monday night into Tuesday with similar strength to 06z. I really care because I am going to Polar Star Wednesday through Friday and then Carbondale for the weekend...

gr, Swim bailed on the trip last minute. Too bad. Love that guy.

Loveland reporting a 28" base and 74" year to date, I'm suprised that's not skiing better.

Maybe it's the never ending gale force winds that blow all the snow into Georgetown

I'm pretty sure all the base reports are BS. Silverton reports a 40" base and I'm skiing ankle deep on Rope-de 4 and willows in the gullies. Not to say it wasn't fun.

Maybe Aspen Mountain is the only one reporting correct numbers, today the base at the top is 10" I believe the other day it was a whole 19". Buttermilk has had a deeper base for a few weeks now according to the snow report.

40oz base reports = the new ytd snow totals, QFT oscillation.

Keep in mind that the base depth represents settled, but uncompacted snow depth. What you're skiing on will likely be less than reported base depths due to skier compaction. I know, skiing 101.

The actual Ajax summit base is 20".

Despite a thin base, the mountain is skiing great. Once we get that 40" base, the bumps gets hudge.
