can't blame this on me...I made no deal this year, turns out Bama is just good enough without a pact from me.

We're still right on average for snowfall so far, it's just came early and has been pretty dry since. LIke Rontele says, we'll get our 350" or so by the end....it'll come.

this storm looks eerily similar to the one that was supposed to dump in the front range, but they ended up getting skunked and more snow hit the western part of the state...i can always hope right?

I wonder if it will be worth ditching work for tomorrow. 2-4" is better than we have been getting.

    LOL

Sad, but true. I have 5 days I have to use before the end of the year. I'll be up bright and early tomorrow morning to check the reports to see if tomorrow is worth burning one. Anything over 4" probably gets me to make the call.

This looks good for east of the divide, but Thursday will see little snow for Summit, Eagle, Pitkin counties. Northeasterly winds are great for RMNP, Indian Peaks, Echo, Eldora, Monarch, and even Wolf Creek later in the day, but most of the interior of Colorado will not see good snow. The NWS has a Winter Storm Watch for zone 34, which covers from the divide west to Breck, so that's why Breck has a Watch for 8-16" but I doubt they'll see more than 3", while Loveland (in the same zone) could see 3-6" and between Loveland and down to Genessee could see around a foot.

The next storm on Friday night could actually be better for the interior mountains with 2-4" or maybe 3-5".

At Eldora? Unless they've dislodged the gigantic stick up their ass I'd save the effort.

Anyone know what canned beer is being sold at Redtail or given out at the VIP tent at the Birds of Prey? Dickhead confiscated my PBR last year and I'd prefer not to waste even cheap beer. I'm assuming you can't ski down to the finish? Thanks. Other libations are already procured.

Edit: Fucking split flow upslope bullshit. I want snow...at ski resorts...that I have a pass to.

I imagine if you have a pass and start way early before the lifts open they won't care, but i thought eldora has some private property you have to cross to get uphill access to which means they don't allow uphill access to the general public.

besides...eldora sucks ass, it's flat, wouldn't waste your time.

The Jenny Creek trail is legal Forest Service access, the official Jenny Creek trailhead starts just outside the Eldora gate, but nobody hassles you if you skin up to the left of the Ho Hum beginner trail. So you can always skin up at Eldora, and crossing their trails when descending is no issue, although you need to be careful to stay out of the way of grooming equipment if it is before/after lifts run.
I have talked with Eldora Patrol many times while coming back from long tours across their runs after the lifts close and they have always been friendly, usually curious about BC conditions. Right now Eldora only has a few runs open, so skinning up the WRODs while all the gapers zoom down is a bad idea, whatever Eldora's policy is. And the base is meager off the open runs, so turns in the trees will definitely harm your bases, and maybe your body. One more good dump should add enough base to open up the sheltered areas that catch all the snow that Eldora's vicious winds redistribute.

If you have a pass I would just show up and see what happens? I have never seen anyone skinning up there, you could probably come in via the Jenny Creek area and get into the resort that way, I don't think it would be worth it.

Storm evolving about as expected. Snowing 1"/hr at Eldora this morning, and downslope winds west of the divide (gusted to 120 at top of Steamboat this morning).

Storms Fri night and Sun night should follow similar paths to this one, though maybe a few inches for mountains west of the divide if things turn out well. The south San Juans could actually get some decent snow Friday through Saturday...

14"+ at Echo... should be no surprise considering what the early season upslope storms have done this year already. If only the dense trees off Squaw Pass Rd weren't as dense up high.

Eldora was fun today. skinned up with no problems around 745. had a fun run down in about 8 inches of blower... trees were deep in spots. skied for another couple hours after that once the lifts started running. Really fun today. not bad... way better than making the drive to berthoud/summit county. I don't care if eldora is lame, at least i got after it

Sadly, I am jealous. All bluster west of VP. I couldn't tell if those couple specks floating around this afternoon were from the clouds or GPeak guns.
