Copper does suck, even when it's empty and deep.

Seriously, we know the mountain and we've skied it. If you think it's that great...well, keep at it - you're doing the rest of us a great favor. Enjoy your foot of snow - we have no problem with the 3 feet we were skiing...

--High pressure aloft builds in and holds most of next week, with mostly sunny skies and the warmest temperatures yet this season. Winter is not over, as the last week of April may become unsettled again (with snow and colder temperatures). The first shot at some more snow looks like the 23rd or 24th (light), and off/ on through the 28th as another low pressure trough carves out across the west, placing Colorado in an increasing moist southwest flow aloft. Come one weather nerds, I'm jealous of the huge weather brains that you have and I lack, and I'm counting on you! Is this storm going to produce us anything or what?

    SW flow favoring southern mountains...

"Friday's temperatures remain mild but a few degrees cooler than Thursday's readings. Cooler air and precipitation sag into the northwest corner of the state Friday night and spread southeastward across most mountain zones on Saturday. Winds remain from the southwest. The snow level could initially be as high as 10,000' and then lower to around 7000' through Saturday. Saturday precipitation amounts remain on the light side. More substantial moisture combined with a disturbance brings heavier snowfall Saturday night favoring southerly aspects especially over the western end of the state. Model forecasts are indicating heavy snow for the Southern San Juan, Gunnison, Grand Mesa and Steamboat zones, and light to moderate amounts for other zones. A long wave trough of low pressure persists over the Western US well into next week keeping Colorado in an extended period of cool and unsettled spring weather." - from CAIC

When is this? It's 50* today and tomorrow, and 40* on Saturday at 10k here in Leadville. I'm thinking rain rather than snow here until Sunday. Best bet looks like rain during the days and snow at night. I'd like it to get a little colder and stick to snow, but I'm less optimistic I guess.

Are we even going to get snow below 9k?

Sat night into sunday snow will fall down to around 7k. Not much if any accumulation down that low, most snow that sticks around should be above 9k.

Not much, but I'll take anything:
    Winter Weather Advisory
SNOW WILL DEVELOP OVER THE NORTHERN AND CENTRAL MOUNTAINS
SATURDAY EVENING AND CONTINUE THROUGH SUNDAY. THE SNOW WILL BE
HEAVY AT TIMES...WITH TOTAL SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS OF 4 TO 8
INCHES EXPECTED BY LATE SUNDAY AFTERNOON.

tonight and tomorrow night I would guess, at least up high. When the cold front pushes through that will end this week of summer we've had.

Pretty light but steady rain yesterday evening in Boulder that transitioned into a rain/snow and then snow last night. Woke up to an inch or so on the ground.

It drives me crazy how tons of people in the mtns and Denver for that matter want it to be sunny and hot. We need a nice cool spring and early summer to keep the snow we have. Once the dust showed last week with all the warmth and sun, shit was melting FAST.
