We got maybe up to 18" so far up here. It started a little wet, but most of this new snow is pretty dry and will ski rather nice.

6 inches of accumulation just outside Boulder in about an hour. I should have just slept in the LL parking lot.

It wasn't exactly blower Karp but it was pretty light, I was quite pleasantly surprised.

CDOT's website is confusing my feeble brain. Is I-70 closed at WB MM 259 all the way until Vail or what? Anybody making a break for it?

Berthoud area was skiing best of year conditions. About 8% moisture, extremely dry for April. and consistent power puking refills. Tomorrow A.M. should be premier. 70 is in shit shape, saw 5-6 spinning semi's with no chains blocking traffic in a couple spots. Plows are having a tough time getting through so the road is worst than a mogul field at mary jane. If this upslope continues to climb the hill like predicted tomorrow could be completely insane.

From everything I've seen on tv (both cdot cams and the news) it looks like its still closed all the way from MM 259 to Vail. On the last text I received from CDOT, it said that local traffic is permitted only with valid local id. However, I'm not sure if that only applies for areas within a short distance of the closures or it its extended further.

I did just see a few vehicles on the CDOT webcam at a few different stops on the closed stretch, but given the low number it might just be local traffic allowed to pass through.

anyone going to try this route? or is i-70 closed to the tunnel?

if open, anyone down to run the gauntlet with me?

Nuking in Boulder. Anyone have a cortisone shot for me. I'd glady destroy my fibula if I could ski these next two days as my last of the season. Why hasn't this shit gotten better. Doctor's suck.

Slop wet has definitely turned drier, I don't think there was much until recently, probably 4 inches outside our apartment. Falling crazzzy hard. Enjoy it bastards.
Do I detect a lot of anger flowing around this place? Kind of like a pubescent volatility, some angst, a lot of I'm-sixteen-and-angry-at-my-father syndrome?

    fuck that noise.

    Just got wet again here.

This storm has made me happy, I watched someone who told me "you don't need snow tires and AWD if you know how to drive" spend just over an hour shoveling snow so they could pull into their spot.

It's not hurting yourself good at all at Vail (as of closing friday). Nowhere near as good as a few weeks ago. We did ski some not very deep powder in Blue Sky, but nothing that wasn't at least a little thick, heavy, and springy. Glad to hear others were crushing it!

It reaches a point where it does get a bit dangerous

VERY HEAVY SNOW WILL CONTINUE TO FALL IN THE FRONT RANGE MOUNTAINS
AND FOOTHILLS THROUGH 8 PM. SNOWFALL RATES OF 1 TO 3 INCHES PER
HOUR WILL BE COMMON...ESPECIALLY IN THE HEAVIEST SNOW AREA BETWEEN
EVERGREEN...BERTHOUD PASS...AND ALLENSPARK. EXPECT VERY LOW
VISIBILITIES ALONG WITH SNOWPACKED ROADS. TRAVEL WILL BE DIFFICULT
IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE EVEN ON MAJOR ROADS INCLUDING INTERSTATE 70 WEST
OF DENVER AND THE PEAK TO PEAK HIGHWAY. SECONDARY ROADS WILL BECOME
IMPASSABLE BY CAR AND MOST FOUR WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES.

So it'll slow down after 8pm, huh? That'll give CDOT plenty of time to clear the roads for me in the morning....

Just got down to Denver. A-Basin did not suck today, although the lot was full by 9 am and the Pali maze logjammin'. From my impressions going eastbound: about 12 accidents. The real clusterfuck westbound is the big hill Georgetown/Silver Plume. Three seperate accidents on that curve. Absolute mess. Problem eastbound is Floyd Hill, cars spinning out everywhere trying to get up the hill, and something that I still don't know what the root cause is around El Rancho/Evergreen Parkway. Sat there for an hour before shooting 74 through Evergreen to get home. As of two hours ago no need for frontage roads westbound and the only big problem spots were Floyd and Silver Plume hills. Godspeed.

Just a note. NOAA, changed there forecast from 3-5 for vail to 6-10 vail overnight. All you tunnel and west folk enjoy it, early morning should be empty just about everywhere. A sled day in VP would not be the suck. A sled day anywhere, would not be the suck.

You're telling me. I stayed home today since I was afraid of not being able to get down the hill tonight for work tomorrow (which sucked cause I missed epic snow, but was good cause 70 is closed).

I live in Vista Ridge, and it slushed/rained all day. They even mentioned Erie on the news tonight as having no snow! Talk about bitter.

But...The good news.. It's nuking now! Big fat huge comical baby goblin flakes!

Damn, nice way to end the season. Since it's gonna be a slush/snow shitshow in Denver tomorrow I'm planning on leaving EARLY...like 530, 6 at the latest to beat everyone and their mom. Plan is either A-Basin, Breck high alpine or Vail/Beav depending on snow reports and road conditions. The consensus is more snow towards the Front Range than west toward Eagle county. Any thoughts? My guess is they'll have 70 somewhat accessible by the morning. One more day on my Lhasa's for the season. Blue DNA coat, Camo North Face pants and 186 Lhasas. Holler.

Gary! I-70 closed from mm 180 to Golden, AKA Vail to Golden.

To be honest, I can't recall ever seeing that.
