Apparently at the 76/Wadsworth/I-70 interchange there was a 17-car accident this morning. I'm glad we didn't leave earlier to head to Vail or BC- we would have likely been in it.
Ullr, you are a fucking loser. There I said it. Prove me wrong bitch.
No good inbounds pow days here for close to a month.
^^^ There better be some soon, cause I have all four Classic Pass days left to use.
Jeez, a bunch of whiner's on here!
I've been skiing great pow all week. Hell, all season, really. Today, I lost count of the faceshots.
You just gotta be willing to walk around and look for it!!!
Looks like a good week coming our way. No major fronts, but lots of unsettled waves. A little bit here, a little bit there, and I'll be skiing pow all weekend in CB. Woo Hoo, Happy B-day to me!!
Skiing, whether you're in Wisconsin or the Alps, is a dumbass hick country sport that takes place in the middle of winter on a mountain at the end of a dirt road.

It's the warm temps that are pissing me off
welll compared to last year the pow faucet is definately off. I did some looking around and it is 10 degrees warmer from Jan 15th this year to present than what it was last year. Temps are an issue. Spring has come early to the high country. That being said, the wife is also skiing really good pow right now. It is not inbounds however.
This week looks like lots of little short waves. An inch or two here or there and really warm and high snow levels at least to start.
ROLL TIDE ROLL
It's definitely been a warmer winter. But, I've been loving the winter here in CB this year. It's a week of pow followed by a week of warm temps/settling snowpack/hitting big BC lines. The constant oscillation is pretty much ideal for GB and I... if only I could still ski. But, GB is out there hitting some big lines today with SydVicious and Dside, and powder was had earlier this week. Pretty much can't be beat.
Personally, I think the warmer temps are largely responsible for helping to calm the snowpack. And I don't think that's a bad thing.

From CAIC:
Weak high pressure and high cloudiness will keep temperatures on the mild side Sunday night. Moisture increases on Monday - the question is how soon and how much. The computer forecast models are not in agreement. One model holds off precipitation until Monday evening and snowfall accumulations are not more than a few inches. A second model starts snow Monday afternoon and predicts greater accumulations with 6-12" for the Northern and Central Mountains. I am leaning toward the latter solution.
Come on 6-12"! Too bad it's supposed to hit 40 again right after it snows.
as usual, a pretty big difference between Noaa and the CAIC. This time the CAIC favors snow while Noaa not so much. Maybe that means it will actually snow this time. Looks like another ridge for next weekend and above normal temps all week.

This Winter was brutally cold for the first few months. Perhaps the coldest I've ever seen. And then, yes, the past 4 weeks have been warm, mostly because it's been bluebird sunny. I don't care about the temps, it's the lack of significant snow in CO for the past several weeks that's sucked.
I blame most of it on the jet stream....it's been shit for wayyyy too long.

How is the next round of storms looking? Anything good, or is more mountain biking in my future?
^^^ unsettled through the week. High snow levels and generally weak dynamics for big dumps. Wouldn't stun me for most high mountain areas to see double digit amounts by the end of the week....15" or so by the end of the week.

puking all morning here in CB. gotta be close to 6in on my deck.
I have a good feeling here. Coming down hard....
Drive slow, homie.
was snowing hard this morning in Eagle Vail but has been raining down here in Edwards since around 9am.

Word. CAIC looking on the money so far, since both the CBAC and NOAA didn't seem too impressed.
Things must be grim up N or something considering all the whining. This year is going down as one of my best ever in CB- not overthehead every day inbounds like last year, but always soft inbounds and with good stability and good snow in the BC. Don Pedro did some probing around last weekend out of curiosity last weekend and never hit ground with 10' of probe.
hey GB, pm headed your way.

Snowing up high, but it's 34 degrees at 10,000 ft.
It was looking good this morning for light snow today. Around lunchtime here it started raining hard and now it's back to sleet/freezing rain at 7,800'
This is tragedy for my plans to escape work. Sound like conditions on the hill are what I call "Snow Swamp" (wet, cold, and slushy)
Raining pretty good at 8000' in West Vail. Super fucking lame.
