Based on my numbers, this area had about 250" at this time last year (plus 20" in November). This year, my numbers show we are at 236". We definitely never had warm periods like this though. It never got warm until the first few days of March.

We're about 100" behind last year in CB. Last year at this time, we had just over 300" and this year we're a little over 200".

If the models are to be believed this far out, next week looks good.

    Montanaskier-

    If you go here:

    http://www.wcc.nrcs.usda.gov/nwcc/sn...ays=0&state=CO

which I think somebody else posted above, you can check out precip totals from year to year by the day at specifically the Vail Snotel station.

For the current year, the SNOTEL gives snowdepth, but I can't figure out how to find snowdepth readings in their historical archives.

However, it does give precipitation totals. If you look at February 1, 2008 compared to February 1, 2009 it looks like we have around 1.3 more inches of precipitation this year than last by February 1.

Take a look at the Snow depth totals though. Very strange. I am not sure exactly how these stations work, or how accurate they are. From January 29-30 of this year snow depth went from 198.6inches to 55.2 inches?!?

Can somebody help me to more accurately use this data?

Pretty sure that was during a storm; in which case, the snow depth readings are always way off.

did it really get up in the 40s today in vail? I've been looking at the temps all day and it hasnt passed that magic number 32. Or do we have some sort of inversion scenario in the valleys?

It was in the 50's today in Leadville!
Skiing, whether you're in Wisconsin or the Alps, is a dumbass hick country sport that takes place in the middle of winter on a mountain at the end of a dirt road.

Isn't that just what has fallen? Not what is still on the ground after sublimation etc.

Sounds like this first weather system Friday is coming from the Southwest. my entirely unscientific opinion is that Vail won't get much but clouds. Beav has a better chance of minimal precip if it comes from the Southwest. If it turns westerly, we'll have a better chance, but it's not likely to be big...

Sun is pretty, but I'm always waiting for the next snow storm

Perfect weather/snow to test the newly healed foot. Will probably be at the Basin this weekend enjoying the beach. Hopefully, next weeks forecast holds, and then I'm headed to the Boat.
