Fuck it's hot in Denver. Although nothing compared to Vegas or Phoenix. Come on monsoon.

Some fine American tourons enjoying Death Valley

Death Valley in mid June - what a fine vacation destination
Something about the wrinkle in your forehead tells me there's a fit about to get thrown
And I never hear a single word you say when you tell me not to have my fun
It's the same old shit that I ain't gonna take off anyone.
and I never had a shortage of people tryin' to warn me about the dangers I pose to myself.

Maybe they thought they'd sweat off the, you know what.
Must be a dry heat. They aren't sweating through their shit yet.

Hadn't skied Emporer in a couple years, did yesterday and now I remember why. Definitely not fall line skiing. Fun day still. Tuning Forks still looks great too.

I skied the tuning fork on Saturday. Was suncupped, but still really good once it softened. Friday night was cold - when we skied at 10:30 or so the upper third was still firm. Managed to go from 100 feet or so below the ridge to within 100 feet of the stream in the valley, with just a couple times taking off the skis briefly.

Stage 1 fire ban goes into effect 08:00 Friday June 30 for western Boulder County, CO.
The fire ban prohibits:
* Slash fires
* The use of any kind of fireworks or model rockets
* All other outdoor spark or flame producing activities
* All outdoor burning not listed below as allowable
This fire ban allows for:
* Indoor fires in fireplaces or stoves
* Smoking indoors or within an enclosed vehicle
* Campfires in improved and maintained campgrounds that are currently open to the
public, as long as the fuel for such fires are smaller than two feet in diameter by three
feet in height.
* Liquid or gas fuel stove use
* Charcoal grill use on private land
* Smoking outdoors in areas free of flammable material
* Fires contained within maintained fire pits or grates on private land
The fire ban will be in effect until the sheriff finds that the hazardous conditions have subsided. The fire ban does not affect open fires within incorporated cities and towns, however residents must comply with applicable ordinances and regulations in the respective cities and towns.
Anyone found in violation of the fire ban may be convicted of a class 2 petty offense and may be subject to a $500 fine, in addition to any possible civil penalties. Higher fines may be imposed for subsequent offenses.
State statutes authorize counties to impose a fire ban “to a degree and in a manner that the board of county commissioners deems necessary to reduce the danger of wildfires within those portions of the unincorporated areas of the county where the danger of forest or grass fires is found to be high based on competent evidence.”

Don't think it's really rained/snowed in breck in a month
a few stray showers here and there
should rain every day late july through august then...................
100% fire ban went in place for all Park County last night. No farting allowed either.
It usually turns up the faucet right after the 4th. June is always dry.
I've felt one raindrop in the past month.
Anyone know of any good spots with reasonable access and something fun to ski? I'm with my parents here for the next week and might want to sneak away for a quick ski a couple mornings. Will be around RMNP, leadville, pikes peak. I was thinking guanella pass, mt evans, maybe something up high on pikes peak might be good?
And here's a couple pics from emporer couloir on torreys a couple weeks ago.
There were 9 other people that skied it before and after me so it made me feel like I was home in the Wasatch with our crowds.

Gunaella was still skiing well last weekend. Naylor lake chute is in from the trail to the ridge, and there are plenty of options still on Mt Wilcox's East face. Squaretop's east face also looked decent, didn't ski it though.
Wildfire near Gold Hill between Breck and Frisco apparently![]()
No worries, I saw Blurred headed toward Breck with his garden hose.
Johnny on the spot
I didn't believe in reincarnation when I was your age either.
Did some idiot on the Peaks Trail throw a cig out? Or didn't completely douse a campfire?
I suspect a flamethrower
