Snowy and blustery today in Summit around treeline, & was dumping harder east of the divide by Bakerville. So happy winter is here.

Snowing a bit here all day, but little to no accumulation. Maybe 2" so far, and the mercury is dropping faster than the storm is materializing. Just went out for firewood and saw the moon. Unlikely to really start snowing when it's 0...
Weird weather last night... 90mph wind forecasted, and apparently it was ripping everywhere else... ~50mph down in Idaho Springs is what I heard. But it was basically calm here at the house all night. Peak gust was 39. I could go for some more of that.
When will Winter Park get some more terrain open?
My guess is when they get enough snow to open more terrain?
Why does it matter? It will be VW Beetle sized moguls the moment you show up regardless.![]()
Move to Europe where they just open the resort and let people ski at their own risk. If you go up to Winter right now, there is plenty of snow even on Jane, but yet...closed due to liability. You want to trash your skis? Let people do it. Thanks pussification of America!
Skiing was good today. Will do more tomorrow.

Tingly in the pants feeling.
From Joel:
From Thursday night through Sunday a feed of moisture from the Pacific should bring snow to Colorado each day.
this will be a nearly continuous feed of moisture
this is NOT a compact storm and is rather a near continuous push of moisture with small waves of energy moving quickly through the flow
The flow of moisture from the Pacific will continue for most of next week and next weekend, through about Sunday, December 18th.
It might not snow every second of every day between now and the 18th, but it might.

Seems like I chose a great time to be spending a week in Steamboat [emoji16]
Okay, so does anybody have a good basis of why most resorts terrain aren't open on the Front Range. I understand "lack of base" but I don't quite understand what's going on right now. There is plenty of base across the board to be able to ski and not tear up skis. Example: Mary Jane has yet to be open but there really is a shit ton of snow up there currently.. more-so and less exposure than when they are open in late April/May.
In short: Late season skiing across the board has less base/more exposure than now. What's the deal?
