I'm over it now, but it hurt back then. Uh, what I mean is I didn't mind at all because of the little ray of sunshine brought into my life.

My son was born in June of that season. I skied a ton that season. My wife skied until she was 5 months then was a DD and shuttle driver, it was great. The next season was the one I didn't get to ski much.
ROLL TIDE ROLL
Crested Butte punched my thumb yesterday, but delivered a surprisingly good day. Car read 6 degrees as I drove over Lizard head pass in the morning. Drove right by Teluride on the way to CB. Amazing views and such a change having spent the last 10 days in the desert with the wife. Dropped her off Tuesday afternoon at the Phoenix airport and drove. Did not expect to be skiing winter snow in the end of March.
Going to ski half the day at CB again as there are one or two runs I did not get to. Wil go out Snodgras for some mellow afternoon touring. Driving to Silverton tonight for Friday unguided.
Will be at the Jane solo tomorrow if anyone wants to ride. It is looking prime.
Just started frigging hammering in Dillon about a half hour ago. If this keeps up a little, tomorrow morn should be sublime.
Any of y'all know a really good boot fitter? I got some scarpa TX Pro tele boots, and I keep getting problems with my feet going numb.
I think I've had these boots for 2-3 years now, and I have custom fit orthotics. Boots and orthotics were purchased and fitted at Bentgate Mountaineering in Golden.
Just yesterday I replaced the ankle strap with the smaller one so that it can hold my heel back a little firmer, and then I can loosen other buckles.. We'll have to see how that helps.
I think the boots fit well, but the numbness sucks.

x10 on Larry's. Best out there.
Skied today, and that small strap on the ankle did the trick. dang it felt good.
But i'll go see him, as I'll probably be getting new boots next season anyway.
Outpost was awesome yesterday. Barely even a breath of wind, sun came out and we got a nice line with cold snow and good stability.
The cirque was sweet tits today, dam I love spring skiing. Great weather and snow! What a great day! #FKNA
Saw Aspen Highlands is extending to May 1st!
Sunny and warm. I am so sun burned. Knocked off a classic line I've been waiting 3 years for. This winter was/is the best in a long while.

Excellent closing day at Telluride. Great weather and a great party.
Also got to witness some of the gnarliest shit I've ever seen in person. As we were partying in the bottom of Revelation bowl a group of three dropped into the Hairy Banana couloir of Little Wasatch Peak. They took it slow but got stopped at the crux of the line. A cliff band that you have to traverse around. The entire cliff band looked like a 7' wide 50' long sheet of ice. Getting to the little traverse around the cliff band looked to be pretty much impossible without the right kind of gear. I don't think they had a rope, because it would have been much easier just to rappel the cliff band than anything else. They waited at the crux for close to 45 minutes before my group decided to head back to the front side of the mountain. The last I saw of the group was the three booting back up the couloir. Considering I haven't seen an article about a rescue in bear creek I have to assume that they made it out alright, but maybe a little scared.
While we were watching that go down in the banana another group had dropped into either the Grandfather or Heaven's Eleven Couloir. We couldn't see exactly what went down but at some point someone set off a slide. 15-20 minutes later we finally saw a group of two come out at the bottom of the traverse out. I'm sure the view from lift 9 was much better for that incident.
If anyone knows who these guys were I'd love to hear a TR from their perspective.
Near Silverton yesterday a rider set off a slide on a face I was planning on skiing not 15 minutes later. His group had already put three or four tracks on the same face so everyone was feeling pretty confident.
This season has been fantastic for the most part, but the last few days have been an excellent reminder of how dangerous the mountains can be.
Wear at Simple?
If you don't like spring skiing you don't like skiing. The last couple of weeks have had ski areas powder, slush skiing, peak assaults, evening pass skiing. Dig out the headbands and sunscreen, it is on!

Interesting looking terrain; thanks for sharing!
Insert token "I'm leaving for X for X days; it will snow; you're welcome" reply for my upcoming vacation....
