Had more face shots today than a hooker who's late on rent.

Hear it's gonna get warm. Lots of wind here too
whats up with this, the weather and bitch thread are falling down the ladder here
the where to eat and drink while stuck in traffic the complain about shitty food and service thread is gaining traction? somethings not right
what one week of warm and sun and winter is over? Looks like presidents weekend will be a bust maybe? no traffic no lift lines since everyone will be polishing their golf clubs and riding the road bike this weekend?
Spot on. It was almost 70 in Denver yesterday, and it's supposed to continue for the next 2-3 weeks with no change in sight. Bring on spring!

Powder skiing is fun, but not the only game in town. Spring skiing is awesome too.
Hopefully everyone will stay in Denver this long weekend while the rest of us play in the mtns. The skiing's terrible and no one should bother going.
Base is thick enough to handle a dry spell. Good time to go explore some new zones!
Warm out today. Warm yesterday. Even warmer today.
53 at Dowd today and top of the resort was 45...toasty
ROLL TIDE ROLL
I bet it'll get colder soon.
And someday it'll snow.
and then it will get warm again.
"fuck off you asshat gaper shit for brains fucktard wanker." - Jesus Christ
"She was tossing her bean salad with the vigor of a Drunken Pop princess so I walked out of the corner and said.... "need a hand?"" - Odin
"everybody's got their hooks into you, fuck em....forge on motherfuckers, drag all those bitches across the goal line with you." - (not so) ill-advised strategy
It'll never snow again
And then it went to shit. It's real warm in SW Colorado, saw a five foot high snow bank disappear in 3 days. Lots of Avalanches, the wet sloppy kind. Sorry but I like cold and snow, screw the rest. Looks like you mid state skiers will get a change this week, while we'll have 12,000 foot freezing levels, I hope not.![]()
Settle the base for the big spring storms. Take it as it comes.
Bridging mid-pack? Maybe...but do you trust it? Persistent Deep Slab...I'll leave that to the professionals
The likelihood of triggering a Persistent Slab avalanche is slowly decreasing. We still have a frustratingly hard to change Persistent Slab avalanche problem in the Front Range zone. There are quite a few layers of weak snow buried in the snowpack. Near-surface faceted crystals, facets around crusts, buried surface hoar, and facets in the basal part of the snowpack still have us concerned. Although Persistent Slab avalanches are becoming difficult to trigger if you do trigger an avalanche today, it will be large and dangerous. The size and extent of the avalanches in the early February cycle was impressive. Imagine the consequences of the entire slope breaking away when you evaluate your terrain choices today.
Agreed. I don't think the problem will be resolving soon but with the weather continuing like this it will certainly help.
I'm not so much worried about the deep persistent slabs at this point. More worried about the shallower ones 1'-3' down like faceting near crusts on solar aspects and the buried surface hoar on all aspects. The surface hoar is pretty sporadic at least. Haven't really seen much NSFs though.

Anyone been out near Allenspark this year? Is there enough snow to ski? I've only been out there once a few years ago and don't remember what time of year it was.
Was planning to head to Meadow Mountain area tomorrow but snow near Eldora today was pretty bare.
Rough night last night, cruised right up 70 at around 10:30. Tourons must have got tired by noon as I barely ever waited in line - def not more than 5 min. Smooth firm snow in the alpine made for some fun and spicy skiing when opening it up. Fun change from choking on powder all last month. A little bit of fresh on that smooth base will be money.
