How was the base? Looked like it had been pretty lean down there prior to this storm. Going to be down there in a month. Hopefully this keeps up there and the donuthole goes away.

I mean, it's CB. No matter how much snow there is you're gonna hit rocks.

Any recent reports from the Park? Interested in thoughts on quality and stability.

    Cheers.

My pics above were from rocky and nearby. There is a nice base right now, where nice base = a thick 1f to 4f slab over facets below TL. Upside is you dont hit many rocks. Lots of storm snow instability before the wind kicked up, but nothing stepping into the older snow. The winds started cranking much harder weds-thurs (75 mph in indian peaks >TL), so the loads should increase and the slabs should thicken. There was a lot of new snow, with regions of 40 to 80 cm storm snow. On Sat (start of storm) we had ECTP 22 @ 40 cm on NE aspect below TL. That was before the increased load from the meat of the storm. I havent heard yet how things are skiing above TL since the wind started. My guess would be unpleasant wind slabs abound with generally poor skiing in all but the most perfect aspects. I would guess protected aspects below TL are still skiing well.

    Holy windfuck today at Breck.

    Slabs everywhere.

Patrol didn't get anything good open the entire day.

Lots of areas were ripped bare from the wind.

    Lulus slid pretty big.

Well, it's cold now, that would require it to get warmer...... That is, after this cold

Well that sucks. We were hoping to hike/ski all the peaks and do a little out of bounds off 9 and 10. Did Lulus just shead the storm/wind slab or did it go deep? It was like a giant slab of polished granite last week, wonder if that's what it ran on.

Looked like a 1 - 2 foot crown afar, but hard to tell from the Colorado Superchair. So I would assume just a fuckton of wind loading?

Patrol actually got horseshoe bowl open in the early afternoon, but I didn't notice if anyone was skiing lulus or not. Pretty windfucked entering horseshoe bowl at the top with a lot more exposed than I have seen lately. But very nice creamy snow down lower in the bowl.

Yea, the amount of rocks between the short mogul fields at the top and the actual bowl last week was nuts. That place was already heavily beat by the wind this year, I'm sure another wind storm didn't help, whales tail looked to be about the same, they didn't have the top open but we traversed into the lower half from Tbar and had to do some grass skiing to get in.
