Breck is good today, not overly crowded. Need to open up more terrain. Boot deep in places

Bluebird pow day tomorrow. I-70 should be good though. With the new express lane and all.

Pretty quiet day at the Beav. Snow never materialized, just super fine light snow all day. Wasn't real crowded and my little guy had his first Form your own team all day ski today. He's worn out.

ROLL TIDE ROLL
Made it up to keystone at noon after I convinced myself I wasn't reading the pow cam wrong. I think they really did get 12" in 5 hours. While I never blatantly ducked a rope I can't exactly guarantee I wasn't operating in a closed area. But it was some legit pow in the "outback" don't go there enough to know where I was. I would imagine they could open more terrain soon.
I have more skis and bikes than Facebook friends.
Loveland was good most the day. Skied at least boot deep -- especially trees off 6.
Happened very fast too. One my first uphill lap there was about 2" of fresh @6:00am, 4+ on the second uphill around 7:15 and a good bit more by 10am when it started to slow down a bit.
The oddest thing today was the fact that snow actually stayed on trees..rather than blowing away the second it landed as per usual Luv.
Snowpit on Vail Pass... ENE, low 30s, 11K, ECTNR, CT21 (1 of 3, no results on others).
Good snow up there!
Still skiing heavy and consolidated out at Vail, but the little refresh definitely helped. Great skiing to be had still, just works your legs a bit more. Next storm should help quite a bit.
Over at Breck - for how much snow that fell it sure was skiing deep. Really fluffy and knee deep out there. Pretty velcro-y in the morning, needed colder temp wax for sure. Really fun turns though - billowed up over the head really easily.
It's currently snowing, but not warm. I would imagine it might get warm later in the week and potentially snow again at some point. Also, with the recent snow and wind, the Marble area snowpack is starting to get a little sketchy. Still no obvious signs of instability, but I reckon things will get dicey in the near future. You know, once it gets warm and/or snows.
Guessing most common bc spots will get sketchy over the next couple storms. Starting to get slabs above those facets. Just need enough rapid change (snow and warmth) to make things easily triggerable. Reminds me a bit of 2 seasons ago around this time. Late Dec was a bit hair-trigger IIRC?
Latest models are putting out some big totals. Tomorrow morning in the 303 should be a classic shitshow.

just got back from my 1/2 drive to airport, 470 north side was about 8" and blizzard conditions, cant see shit. flight canceled so turned around, just found out school canceled for kid.
shit show is right
Anyone think they might open backside of a basin today? Trying to decide between there and vail
13" surprise and still dumping... thank you very much
Doubtful they'd open new terrain (the backside) in a whiteout?
The Beav opened Grouse yesterday. Today's ️snow should ski pretty well over that way. I'm braving a trip to Ft Collins around 11.

I'm going to head into the office in a few minutes, Highlands Ranch to DTC, I'll post a TR here when I get in.
Wheel base deep in spots, blower, occasional windshield shots. Sickness.

Vail is epic today. Faceshots everywhere. Wayyyy deeper than 5"
What is the prognosis for Crested Butte for the week between XMas and New Years? We've got a hotel booked for that week (was thinking CB would be good for an El Nino year), but things seem to be looking pretty bleak- only 40 inches of snow YTD when everywhere I-70 and north has double or almost triple that.
Somehow it is possible to cancel the hotel all the way up to 24 hours in advance, so I'm considering going elsewhere.
I can confirm the city is fucked up

Lunch update. Thigh deep at vail in many places. Back bowls, blue sky, all fantastic
Trench city off Highline this morning.
Sidecountry and backcountry will be very popular by this weekend. Be safe people.
