Huge avalanches down south, warm, low was 37F at 8000ft. Big winds up high with no vis, but snow getting deep in the trees.

Ducking in for first bacon bloody of the day at 4 Points. Snow is soft at the Boat and the trees are good and it's the exact sort of day I used to be satisfied with before I became a jaded and elitist anow snob asshole who would rather 69 with Willem Dafoe in a Caracas police station than ski less than 2 feet of blower.

Edited to add. . . Can the distilleries just stop adding honey and cinnamon and maple syrup to whiskies? Robert Mitchum and George C Scott must be spinning in their graves. Village Inn doesn't make bourbon, goddamnit!

    End non weather related rant.

Nice turns at Loveland. Really surfy snow. What a shitshow on I70 just to get here, due to hourlong closures for avy work.

It's gone from deep to snorkel levels. Been lapping the same drainage for four days straight and measured 42" at 11k from Thursday night until noon today.

Fun day inside the ropes at Vail as well. At least China, Siberia, and Blue Sky opened today after being closed yesterday. Quite a bit of supportive, surfy, wind affected powder and some spots were knee deep or better. Snowed fairly heavy at times throughout the morning, kind of a grappley snow. Vis was utter crap pretty often. We were finding untracked in the trees all over the place even at 1pm down the frontside as we left, heard Vail Pass was closed for a spell so in sure that's why. Lift lines were under 15 everywhere, under 5 in a lot of spots. Really great day.

Anybody at Highlands today? Webcam looks wet, otherwise hard to tell what's going on there. Thinking about coming over tomorrow for some hiking. Been raining all day in Paonia, hopefully good snow up high?

Holy shitshow on the roads today. Fortunately, I70 closed and Bert Closed, as well as LL pass. And I70 just closed again at Silverthorne. Right after they stopped metering, numerous accidents. Classic I70 shitshow! Love it, because I ain't in it. Some folks from CSprings told me that it took them 5 hrs to get to the Basin from their house! AAAAAaaaaand the lifts just closed. It's gonna get even better!

Got home to Denver at 3:30pm today, left Breck at 11:45am. Most of that was just to the tunnel. Hauled ass after Gtown.

Fun day at WP-MJ. Tophers and the Chutes were a riot. Coverage is great right now.
Had to bail on the 'Boat. I heard reports of rain in town, but the mountain sounds like it was alright.
I70 looks like a grand 'ol time right now. This is bound to happen whenever you combine lots of people, snow, high winds and avalanche conditions....

Is it time to up the 12" rule for calling in sick to 15"? I'm starting to miss a lot of work and people are wondering about my health.
I have more skis and bikes than Facebook friends.

Monday may end up being better than today.

CB has some snow, but didn't ski as deep as what they've got. Visibilty was rough in the mourning, snow, grapple, and even rain in Gunnison. Town of Cb is allmost tunneled up with snow, been awhile since it's looked like that.

Bald tire gaper fest on E Vail Pass. Don't bother and grab a drink in town. Barely creeping up.

No snow most of the day at Highlands, very moist though. Started nuking around 3. Snowing hard now.

Bowl was sick this am, overhead snow on toe turns.

Open letter to the girl in the purple Arcteryx jacket sobbing at the top of the Storm Peak lift in a whiteout and being consoled by your boyfriend. . .

You are right, he never should've brought you up there in those conditions. And you are right, he has no regard for your comfort level and the fact you haven't skied since last year. You are a delicate and lovely young woman who deserves better than to be dragged into a pounding graupel fest by some loser who looks like Zach Galifianakis' less handsome little brother and probably loads trucks for his brother in law. His brother in law wanted to hire a Mexican instead of your boyfriend but felt bad because he married into a family with a helpless sad sack and now he is just trying to keep his wife happy.. It was hard to tell in zero viz but I think you might've had a Title 9 stretch top full of goodies.

But I digress. You deserve more. So much more. PM Rontele for details.

What a 2014 so far. Minus those two weeks in Jan it's been off the hook. Fucking love the Pineapple Express! Been breaking a trail through at least a foot each day since fri. Prob some of the heavier Feb snow I can remember. Last week was much more blower. This stuff is surfy, cream cheese goodness. Crazy mix of snow too today. One minute nothing, then dumping graupel at like 1"/hr. Never been so soaked getting back to the car as I have the last two days.

I was hoping to ski the basin today but sometimes friends are lame. Breck wasn't bad, you could tell there was almost 2 feet up high but it was so dense it just surfed like a few inches does on a flat surface. Although out the peak 10 gate was another story.... nom nom nom

Just drove down from the top of VP. Had an insane day with Vail powder Guides. Thigh-deep on certain aspect and nuking all day. Nice light fun snow. The drive down the pass was comedy, cruised at a nice clip then BAM, the bald tire creepers going 15.

Eastbound was a complete mess, several semis being towed, traffic backed up almost to east Vail.

Snowed like mad till Dowds then turned to the R word up to Edwards. If it does this all night and the wind drops….

    VAG at 8 am!

I don't think we were skiing at the same area. but yes, somehow tomorrow might be even better. And Tuesday might be best of all when they hopefully re-crack 3rd bowl and banana.
