    Very big difference in probability. Lack of snow in November isn't that uncommon. Lack of snow in March and April has only happened a few times over the last 30 years.

    huge difference in Joel's (open snow) totals vs. NOAA's predictions.

    Joel = 3 - 6
    NOAA = 10 - 20

    Senor Gratzo, I guess the Snotel site doesn't publish exact coordinates; I just punched what was there into google maps. Thanks for the correction - that makes a difference. And yeah, that graph is better than mine.

    We had a good streak this December too! Here's hoping the average pace will continue through April at least, and better if it returns to 2010-2011 season!

    Notice that 2010-2011 was great, but the snowpack mostly grew at an average rate with the exception of a great streak in December.

    Total through to Fri night at Silverton 7-15 and Wolf Ck 8-17 from Joel, NWS saying 8-16 for San Juan area (Pueblo 10:25am Forecast Discussion)
    Summit Co and Divide area get 4-8" at best according to NWS

    Vail still sucking and having the lowest snow in 34 yrs

    Or view on a year by year basis

    Summit Co, Eagle Co and Sawatch Range are lagging on snow and have the lowest snow mass in +30yrs.
    Lots of stumps sticking out of the snow and logs presenting hazards when up at Jackal Hut this w/e.

Would be surprised if we didn't end up with something more like that this year. Which means, yeah, this year isn't awesome, but it isn't going to be awful either, just below average.
    Might be true for the all of CO, but Vail is a different story. January is the highest snow month, followed by February, December, March, November, April. I used data from 97-last season.

    Is this one going to be worth playing hooky for tomorrow? Can only make it to Summit/Eagle resorts. Seems like it's going to be the last snow for a while, so even a few inches could convince me.

    I'm gonna head to Loveland tomorrow, get it while the getting is "good".

    I wish more/some CO ski areas ran for night skiing.

    Going to loveland saturday, should be epic.

    Friday night: A 40 percent chance of snow. Cloudy, with a low around -7. Wind chill values as low as -32. Breezy, with a west wind 13 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

    Don't forget to check the temperature and wind chill on Saturday. That'll get you stoked for sure.

    Good old Loveland. Where gale force winds and bone numbing temperatures are always guaranteed!

    I'm taking the kids with me Saturday too, that'll toughen em up for sure. It's actually easier to take skiing with the young ones on the groomers when the overall conditions are bad. This is pretty much the worst ski year ever in Colorado, I'm glad I didn't bother buying a pass.

    Yeah ditto. My kids want to go to LL Saturday. They started riding the chair together so they are psyched to go solo. Not sure taking them out in that is the best idea. Penguin-that's funeh.

    Only 2 runs open off E.... Devils crotch and mine shaft. Mine shaft was the best run I found at breck last weekend, soft snow and good coverage. And the trees between mineshaft and devils crotch were decent too. Devils crotch was a shitshow though. At least the top half.
