Spent today at the Beav. Not the greatest, but not the worst either. Got a bad core-shot on Ripsaw though on my new play-skis. Still some snipers lurking for sure.

I was thinking that today. BSB really kinda sucks unless there is a ton of new snow back there. I really don't get it- most days it is bobsled/ice luge style tree runs that ski like shit on anything stiff, wide or long. People get so fucking amped to go back there. While skiing fun stuff in good conditions in siberia or china or off 11 or 2 or wherever I've had so many friends say "We HAVE to go to BSB." It is almost guaranteed to be worse than other parts of the mountain. By no means is it a hidden gem.

I've never seen the back bowls open with so much dirt showing in my life as there was today (granted, I did not ski Vail last year). It was totally a marketing decision to open that shit up, and in my opinion it has no business being open. Vail needs another 4 feet of snow before anything on the back side will be worthwhile.

By far the best runs I had today were of Chair 2. After poking around the back bowls and talking to very disappointed people coming out of BSB, we resigned ourselves to ski groomers on the front side, which were actually pretty fun.

On another note- I've never in my life seen Vail so empty on a Sunday so close to Christmas. There was nobody there today.

prima cornice was surprisingly decent, snow has gotten real heavy but spots of untouched...it'll do.
Do I detect a lot of anger flowing around this place? Kind of like a pubescent volatility, some angst, a lot of I'm-sixteen-and-angry-at-my-father syndrome?

    fuck that noise.

We could certainly use any snow we can get. Flat light and firm inbounds today.

naw, DEC has been really good. North face opening soon, plenty of leftover untracked pow today at the resort and nuking all day. More snow for Wed/Thurs...It's good right now. At least 4 inches of new out there so far. Hopefully it keeps up all night.

snowed lightly to moderately all afternoon at the top of vail.

I'm at cascade village and it has been snowing heavily for the past hour at 8100 feet.

    tomorrow could be nice

sounds like winds switching now with perfect timing when the lifts close.

the problem with these storms that start out SWerly and turn NWerly is that once they turn, they tend to dry out quickly. I'll guess a report of 4" tomorrow with 2" after the lifts closed. However, moisture seems to still be in place so maybe we can sneak 6-8 out of this lil fella!

hasn't done more than flurry at the house since about 6, i think 4 is about right unless it starts back up. Will be good to have a little fresh tomorrow.

snowing steadily in vail.... I would say a 6 inch report in the morning. 1 inch new on the patio since I swept it at 330. maybe snowing harder at the top of the mountain

All the vail resorts mountains reporting twice as much snow as every other mountain in the area. Nothing fishy about that.
