here comes the butthurtz...relax, another storm coming in next monday
I just got off Ajax, they dropped the rope on the entire face of bell all the way down to the shoulder and it was indeed very deep and face shots were plentiful. Not many days last season were better than this morning.
Report at 5am was 4" (10" on Highlands) and it hasn't stopped snowing since then. Hard to say how much new was actually up there by the time the lifts started spinning because basically everything we were skiing was open for the first time this season and it was bottomless. I barely grazed a couple rocks but no big deal.
Would be very interested to hear from someone who skied Highlands...
Hopefully everything rips to the ground after this storm or we'll be dealing with TGR all season long. We should get our own forum, like on summitpost.
Rode Abasin from about 9am to Noon. No snow to speak of while I was there. Patrol was prepping West Gully and the rest of that area, but didn't have it open by the time I left. I imagine they'll still get some people out on it today though.
Eagle County Mags, you guys fare any better with this one?
I got skunked at Loveland. Maybe an inch + to start, inconsequential snow and fucking cold through the morning.
Glad I got up to MJ a couple of time this week for some really good conditions.
Found some nice snow at Breck, but DAMN IT WAS COLD. I must be getting old or something. Wouldn't be surprised if patrol opened up Contest Bowl to hiking soon.
Old's Cool.
Great day, despite slight overestimation of totals for Vail.
I'd like to take a moment to thank the academy and everyone here. It has been a great number of years perusing, posting and assimilating information from the Colorado Weather Discussion thread.
Congrats on reaching page 420, is really could not have come at a better time.

formerly an ambassador for a few others, but the ski industry is... interesting.
Fukt: a very small amount of snow.
Beav skied well. Only reported 4" but it felt like a bit more (TWSS). A bit of a disappointment given the forecast, but can't be too mad about this past week or two. Grouse opens Friday, perhaps Larkspur too.
the butte was good, dropped the ropes on a few new runs and it was DEEP. Looking forward to getting some backcountry once the snowpack settles a bit. Couldn't have asked for anything better out of this storm cycle. Should be mega terrain openings through this weekend with the near 50 inches that have dumped recently.
Spent all day snowmobiling on a tank in thigh to waist deep untracked. I have to remember that ski shape and 'bile shape are nowhere close. Got my ass handed to me, but I had a blast and it sounds like I made the right call. Was snowing and blowing really hard all day around treeline - lots of loading. Low vis for sure, and getting colder as the day went on.
Vail opened 10 & 6 today. First two early AM runs under 10 were delicious. then it was done.
this afternoon. i forgot what blue sky looked like

RMNP was going off today. I measured about 14" new at the parking lot of hidden valley and easily over 2' up high. Fantastic day to be out, not much wind and the sun made an appearance. Overall perfect!! The two shots show the new snow at the base. 1st was yesterday around 415 and second was today when we were leaving around 3. Too cold and too much fun to waste time taking pics up high. Really nice today.

Finally snowed around here... enjoyed 10 laps on Sam's Knob before 11.
Yep, Monarch reported 3" this morning but it easily skied like 10-12". Snowed most of the day too, I wouldn't be surprised if they report 8" or so tomorrow.
Monarch was great today. Hard to remember there is such a small base. Hit lots of rocks today but nothing too bad. Was very cold but snowed very hard at times. Sun started peeking out at 2pmish. Road was slow and snowpacked almost the entire way home to Co Springs.
anyone conformation about chair 5 tomorrow?
@EdgeLinkJohn
Can confirm it was turning for Patrol work for quite a while. Can't say beyond that, but wouldn't surprise me if it opens this weekend.
Everything is coming up Brady.
Anyone been out on Vail Pass yet?
Was on the Camp Hale side on Sunday. Skied short shots on the ridge opposite the saddle from Machine Gun. Coverage was good where we skied - very loaded. Hard to sled up the ridge though, since the route is on the lee side. No natural activity, but probably like the upper pitches of open areas of EV - hard enough slab to just be waiting for a trigger. No cracking/whoompfing/other obvious signs, including no movement on short steep rollovers. Deceptively stable.
