Good to see snow, forgot what summit looked like, more please....

Low angle Beav is fun again (and sketchy)... went to check out some of the steeper suff for the first time this year, stuff that has been uncracked all season is knee deep... and yeppers, the snow pak is wak, weak layer slides to ground. How is this layer fixed or will this be an issue all year? (assuming it does eventually snow). Click image for larger version.

It's fixed by a big storm leading to a heavy avalanche cycle. A strong, long-lasting pineapple express is best.

I am praying that when we get in a favorable pattern it will be as slow to change as the last pattern was.

Today's 6-10 looking pretty much in line with Friday's 8-14. Today's 8-14 looking slightly less bad, just like it did last week, and the week before that, and the week before that, and the week before that, and...

Actually, its Geaux Tigers. If LSU pulls this one out and the pattern changes, I will take full credit.

I think Ullr is just pissed that the National Championship will be decided by a lame-ass SEC kicking rematch, and is withholding snow unless someone else wins. Go someone else!!!

It's not a National Championship until there's a playoff... the game tonight was the "BCS Championship". I couldn't agree with you more... what a lame-ass, boring game to watch. I'm pretty sure Oklahoma State would have destroyed LSU tonight too.

And what a gay ass fucking game. Why do people actually like college football?

I watched it just to see if it will snow. Apparently, not.

If this trend continues we might have some decent skiing by March or April.

Are we even sure this Ullr is the god of snow? Maybe he doesn't give a shit? The only evidence I found supporting this theory is a picture with some goofy things on his feet that look more like snow shoes. He was also shooting a bow. The way these storms are fucking with us, I'd lay money any snow god is actually a woman.

Ullr is the honey badger of snow; he just doesn't care.

In other news, the weather blogsphere is going off the last couple days about the pending changes, hope they don't jinx it.

Links? I saw a couple earlier yapping about how the pattern change may not happen now.

All I see is giant purple blobs over north western Wyoming and Montana, and nothing over Colorado next week. Since Targhee is now honoring any season pass when you book mountain lodging, me thinks I should go North. Lots of discussion about accuracy of long range models, which is valid, but in my opinion they are pretty good at determine whether or not shit will happen. They just don't know how much shit.

inch or 2 tomorrow maybe then just kinda meh....

The pattern is shifting again in that the jet will lower out of Canada but I don't see it dropping far enough south to really help our situation very much.

It'll snow sometime next week into next weekend in Colorado. Looks like more of a sure bet for snow in OR/WA/ID/MT/tetons of WY, with Tahoe/UT/CO more on the edge of the storm track. But, things should shift south enough to bring some snow to CO at some point from the middle of next week toward next weekend. Not saying it's going to be amazingly deep snow, but there's a decent shot at seeing much more than we have right now.
