In case you were wondering is Wanker Park was fully whored out....https://www.winterparkresort.com/pla...sses/early-ups

I'm not surprised at all but a little disappointed. Hopefully the terrain will be somewhat limited. Parking Pass, Early Ups Pass, what's next? VIP food and bev? VIP lift line?

Wow, who’s paying $600 for that?! Oh yeah, the 1%. Fucking sucks if a lot of terrain will be open and get that much more tracked up quicker.

Steamboat has been doing their First Track pass for years in the intermediate terrain over in Wally World. Black groomed runs such as Rolex and West Side are sacrificed, and some shorter-pitched tree runs but overall it's not anything to write home about.

As they all line up every morning and the que gets completely full, those of us 'pressing glass' (there's no more glass) smile and nod as they pass. We call them the 1%'ers. They may limit sales of the passes but they are clearly overselling the day passes.

They rope off the rest of the terrain pretty well so they can't poach, and they mostly rope off access to lining up for Storm Peak, so the 1st Tracks folks can't beat regular pass holders to the cue for main lift up the hill once mtn is open. Patrol will pull your pass if they catch you poaching or skiing down non-designated runs before 8:30, signs everywhere.

They get 3 runs max if they utilize the entire time allotted. I reckon most only get 2 runs as they ski with slower family or friends. Tourists that buy them for the day mostly don't know where to go after, and miss the pow frenzy to get to the real goods once the resort is open to all. It's not really a big deal in grand scheme of things, mostly local retired folks, hasbeens and desk jockeys that have to be back at work.

What is does fuck with is the limited parking we already have.

I vaguely remember they served breakfast for First Tracks at the top of the Ganjola way back when... they still do that?

definitely behind a bit in Breck. Usually they're at least half yellow in town when Oktoberfest rolls around but it's still bout 90% green.

speaking of oktoberfest, it's way less crazy than last year (I assume everybody was just eager for the return to main st last year after 2 years gone due to covid) and a lot of the good food vendors were back. If anyone goes, get food at Schnitzel Haus from Chef Nuehold, the best.

A friend snapped this pick when we were flying Loveland Pass yesterday evening. So yeah...no summer.
