Eldora was surprisingly good today. Didn't expect to ski West Ridge, but it was pretty damn good (top part at least). And pretty empty.

How much more snow till the butte opens up the north face? Think there'll be any rope drops with the 5-10" coming in the next wave?

I drove 1600 miles to Denver with my GF and in-laws. I NEED to get out and ski. I have my full touring kit with me. Anyone want to do some spring skiing from boxing day to the new year? Alternatively, what would be a good place to do solo laps? Are there any resorts worth skiing right now?

I'm feeling like shit, but if the antibiotics kick in the next day or two I'd be game for a tour.

Define "worth skiing right now"? They all have pretty good coverage for this time of year, but as you're obviously aware, you won't be skiing powder. So it's all how you define your expectations.

Hmmm, spending $xxx for a lift ticket isn't really worth it for me. I rather skin up for some sights and come down on crust. Still I would check out some resort within a few hours of Denver. Some chutes would make it worth it for me. Let's say some terrain similar to kicking horse.

Also I want to go out with my GF who is still recovering from a major ski injury. Decently groomed blues work best for her. What's a cost effective option?

If looking for a day trip from Denver, Loveland is the cost effective option. If you're not shy, find someone in the lot with a season pass to go to the ticket window,, they can get pretty reasonable tickets. Even full pop is not that expensive. The lifts (except for one) are slow, and I'm not a huge fan of their groomers, but the surrounding terrain is beautiful and you can certainly have fun.

Assuming you’re skilled in the backcountry, Berthoud Pass may be worth it to you. Just be careful of that very reactive persistent layer from October.

Years ago when I drove between colorado and utah hitting a lot of resorts loveland ended up being my favorite. It was a very shallow year so most resorts did not have much terrain open. I would also like to check out aspen highlands if I find a place to stay overnight.

You should come to wolf creek. Looks like the snow is finally arriving. Since you are from 1600 miles away I would go touring with you or point in right direction. Guaranteed you will not be skiing crust. Although may not be kicking horse.

Thanks but five metric hours is too much.

I'm going to loveland tomorrow to get the fresh wax off my skis then probably Berthoud.

Thinking of driving from the front range to Purgatory tomorrow for some deep snow, anyone skied there recently?

If you are going to drive from the front range to Purgatory, consider Wolf Creek. Alberta chair will be prime after this storm.

Driving that far to ski Purg is like driving from the San Juans to the front range to catch a big storm and skiing keystone. Purg is fun and all, it's where I became a skier, but I'd pick Wolf Creek or Telluride over it.

Some surprisingly great turns up high in Breck yesterday. Good ol wind doing it's thing turning 4 inches into 6-7 in a lot of spots, crust wasn't even bad underneath.
