anyone dug a pit in the ADKS? i was thinking of going over for some slide skiing this weekend, but if the snow is like it is on mansfield i would be bigtime concerned about avi's.

to refresh everyones memory, we had a pretty good base already prior to this last storm, then the storm started with a few inches of super light blower that got thicker and more moist until it turned to sleet for a few hours, then it got light again and snowed about another foot (at least). i'm conncerned about that first light layer collapsing. allenataylor and i were hearing lots of "whoomphing" in lower angle trees on mt. mansfield and could feel that layer collapsing, also some small fractures in the same areas.

so did the adks see the same type of snow? did it settle yet?
