As I ski through this world
Nothing can stop the Duke on Bros
And-a you, you are my skis
And no one can hurt you, oh no ...

This past Sunday I skied on my new 179 stiff Bros mounted with Marker Dukes. Wow! What an amazing combination.
The smile on my face got bigger with each and every turn.
The Dukes definitely lived up to the hype surrounding them. Very precise and secure. I already knew how wonderful the 179 Bros were. I'm glad that I put Dukes on them. I feel like I have skis that read my mind and instantly do whatever turn shape I am thinking of effortlessly. They carve arcs, have great edge hold, and absolutely rail.
This was just my first day on limited terrain (Heavenly's WROD trio), so I am really looking forward to skiing this set up in a variety of conditions.

BTW - I'm 5'10", 180 lbs. The boots I used are Dalbello Krypton Pros. I also have Garmont Adrenalins for BC.

If you are in the market for a do it all in-bounds/out-of-bounds/BC setup consider Dukes on Bros.

I think this is going to be a similar theme:

Hey Vets, you gonna be sporting that setup at the Heave any time over the next 3 days?

Went with a Dynafit setup this year for my main BC rig and got a hole in the quiver for a side country setup I can pound at the ski area, something like this would fit the bill perfectly.

Whats the lead time these days on Bro's?

I'm still in weekend warrior mode for a while. I have Tentative plans for Mammoth on Saturday and Heavenly on Sunday.

I talked with Splat and it sounds like the lead time on certain models of the Bros is pretty minimal, but they are also moving fast.

1st Day Review: Dukes (large) on 188 Bro Blem Midsofts (thanks again, tchpdx). Skier: some random 6'1", 210 pound rapidly aging dorkwad. DIN 10.

Environment: Alpine Meadows' Kangaroo chair. 16" fresh on top of manmade. Low to mid 20s, light snow. 12 to 18 runs before I got too bored to keep lapping the same thing.

The Good: Lateral rigidity was at least as good as my P14s and S912s. The skis felt incredibly responsive and stable, seriously confidence inspiring. I released the heel for kicks and managed to prove that you can slam your kneecap on the front of your skis pretty hard without the toepiece contacting the ski. That was also the only time I released, and I was happy about that.

The Not-So-Good: When I reattached the heel, I really had to clean out the lockdown plate. This wasn't off-piste, mind you -- this was outside the base lodge.

The Unknown: Still unsure about the wisdom of exposed springs.

Verdict: We'll see how it plays out over the season. But for resort use, pretty money.
