    Question Auto maintenance

Quick question for auto inclined mags out there. Or ones who know from experience. Just paid $150 (parts & labor) to have front brake pads replaced and rotors filed (smoothed). Good price?
This shop was recommended by a friend. They were cool. Quick service. So happy with that.

That is a decent price if you got ceramic pads.

If it's green, smoke it...if it's pink, poke it

You probably had your rotors turned on a brake lathe. @ 65/hr shop rate plus the pads it sounds reasonable. I takes me about 2hrs to get the car in my garage , beer cracked, pads changed, and cleaned up afterwords. If they were a friendly clean shop that doesn't have a stealership attitude, then I'd say bring em in some donuts next time.

I agree that is a fair price. Pads can be anywhere from $30 to $80. Figure an hour or two of booked labor for the pads install and then the rotors, and it doesn't seem like you got ripped off.

    Thanks for the replies.

    They are ceramic pads.

Donuts and PBR's going his way next time when shocks get replaced in other truck.

Fair price. If I did it myself it would take most part of a day and cost me around 80 bucks in parts and labor getting the rotors spun.

MY VW mechanic is 65.00 he doesn't work for a stealership, and is honest and will call around for salvage parts if you can't afford new. I know most dealers run 79.00 and up.

for cali thats a very good price

but if you are going to keep the car a long time, the midas guarentee might be worth thinking about (my pads alone cost 90+) rotors 50-100each

he used to run a midas shop before he opened this one for himself. not the same type of guarantee, but it seems like he's a respectable guy and willing to deal on any maintenance.
nice to get the 'small-town' feel here in LA. looks like i got someone to trust with the vehicles, good feeling especially going into winter and all the planned trips to Mammoth/Tahoe.
