    Speed Trap Video from Snowbird

    Ok, so before you click the link, understand a few things;

1: Yes, the audio sucks. As the wind picked up it blew out the voice of Altagirl, who was reading the speeds.

2: I can't figure out who is who in the video, aside from picking out one or two of the people. Mr Altagirl is the one hitting 65mph in the middle of the clip. As those involved see who they are, let us know!

3: Speeds picked up a bit on later attempts, but operator error on my part precluded the actual taping of later attempts. I'll do better next time.

The video pretty much looks like you'd think it would - lots of people zipping by the camera....so here it is...

    Speed Trap Video

Edit - this is a 6mb quicktime file

    Very high speeds registered considering

    a). the modest slope angle
b). what sounds like quite soft snow
c). the amount of traffic on the slope
    d). the flat light
e). the limited amount of time that the skiers are actually straightlining for (honourable exception for the second guy pictured)

Very cool video RB. Nothing like dodging kids doing 65 MPH in flat light. I bet Altachic would hace hit 70 easy if she tucked three seconds earlier. Nice work people.

I've been driving all night and yet my hands aren't yet wet on the wheel. Should I keep on driving or just switch the air con off?

From what I could tell, here's the order:

    EndlessSeason
    PowderHound
    ColdSmoke
    AltaChic
    Lumpy?
    Mr Altagirl
    Spanky
    Sandytheskier

Thanks RB. Even though the wind hurts the audio, it's still a nice video to have.

    More video clips

Here are some video clips I shot with my digital camera:

    PowderHound
    EndlessSeason
    Mr. Altagirl

    Right-click and "Save Target As".

We all thought Mr. Altagirl was going to crash into us. You'll hear it on the video.

Ice- I should have said that earlier; we went to a much quieter area after working the kinks out there....we got a bit of grief from a few passers by standing there at the bottom...

Other than playing dodge-ems, it looks like good clean fun. I'm holding onto my rain-check for next year's speed-fest.

The audio on Mr. Altagirl, is funny as hell, someone sounded like Dave Chapelle doing a white guy.

Kind of surprised the guy with the 2 kids didn't say something.

It was funny watching the twin tip skiers (me, Mr. Altachic, lumpy, powho) straightline that stuff. Our skis were wavy noodles flapping in the wind.

I'm gonna go with my instincts here...I KNOW that Mr. Altachic was not present...How about Mr. Altagirl instead?!

Yeah, that's what I meant. That gets confusing and it hasn't even happened yet.
