    Vibes for Wife... Broken Knee Cap

    Yesterday while I was hitting the goods at Breck my wife slipped on an icy sidewalk while holding our two year old (unharmed and loved the ambulance ride) and broke her patella in half. Completely in half... and the bottom half was fractured about 12 different ways.

    Did I mention she's 8 months pregnant?!

    Surgery today went well. Baby is fine... she's recovering and I'm at home waiting for little man to wake up so we can go visit "go to mama"

    The recovery doesn't look like fun... but she's australian so she's a battler at heart.

    It's a good thing that you got out and got "the goods" yesterday because your time will be rather occupied for a while now

    Damn dude, that stinks. But you can always find silver linings. You now have ammo for the next time she tells you anything is too dangerous. Skiing, biking, motorcycle, etc. Just say "yeah well you got hurt taking care of a two year old!"

    BTW I did not realize until after that you were at E's movie screening, I guess you were one of the other ones that I did not tell my secret club name...

    Heal up and let me know if you need help around town.

    +++++vibes. I can't even imagine how hard you need to hit your knee cap to break it. I've slammed mine from twelve feet in the air to ice and it still didn't break. That just sounds painfull!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope all heals well.

    +++++++ vibes man, that sucks.

    the plus side is it's way better than tearing ligaments. I busted my left patella in '04 into six pieces, they reassembled with two pins and some wire and i was skiing <3 months after i broke, about 2.5 mos after surgery.

    Good luck with the recovery Mrs P*G

    My "co-parenting unit" also fell a few years ago and busted her knee cap. Her's not nearly as serious as your wife's sounds though... But it was painful for her for much longer than I ever though it could/should be. On the plus side for me, I get to remind her every once in a while that riding a razor scooter down the dark driveway when the kids built an (unseen) slalom course with flip flops was not so bright, and she was lucky it was a knee not her unhelmeted head!

    Edit: and of course... +++++++++++VIBES++++++++++++
    If some of the best times of my life were skiing the UP in -40 wind chill with nothing but jeans, cotton long johns and a wine flask to keep warm while sleeping in the back of my dad's van... does that make me old school?

    Thanks everybody - she is still in the hospital. They had her on baby friendly drugs and that helped... and she actually managed to get out of the bed this morning to get to the bathroom on crutches.

    Yeah, the doc did a great job putting things back together and thinks she'll be able to deliver without too much complications.

    If possible, she will be coming home today... my mom actually hopped on a flight as soon as she heard and will be around help for the next 8 days, so hopefully this won't suck too bad for the little gimpy lady.
