    Watch the freezing levels.

They're expecting them to go to 2500m+ in the Canadian Rockies.

Judging from the above jet stream map and the NOAA infared it looks (to me anyway) that this warm system coming up from the Gulf Of Mexico is just missing NW Montana and heading into eastern canada/US. It looks to me like that is causing the colder gulf of alaska sytems to get sucked in directly over us here in the PNW.

The warm system is coming from Hawaii.

Inch-an-hour at Baker, since 0600 PDT.

And as long as cold SE flow from the Fraser Valley holds off the pineapple onslaught, it's not likely to stop for awhile...

    Tomorrow AM = $$$$$

Tomorrow afternoon = not so much.
Great "Early Season Base Consolidation", though!

Damn I'm glad today is Mr. Mom day.
I am soooooooo there tomorrow morning.

I think N. Montana and Interior BC areas should do nicely...for a bit, anyways...

Looks like the forecasts have pushed the warming here from tommorow afternoon, to Monday now, maybe we'll get some goods out of this after all...

We sure as hell could use 'em.

Ah well, this will at least cover some of those nasty-ass sharks lurking under this light powder us west coasters have never seen before...

i hope it's not as bad as here. new single day rainfall record set for us yesterday... this could've been a repeat of last winter had it been slightly colder or later in the season...

theyre predicting rain/snow mix here for mon-wed. snowline should be approx. 4500, so the mountains should do well. looks like we'll be back to the typical rain/ice shit thats common in the valley in the winter.

Snowing here and its damn cold out. NOAA is saying the warmest temp that Whitefish should see is 34 here in town so the Big will be just fine. I think this will turn out to be a good snowfall and get our base ready for opening on Saturday.

How's it looking in Rossland/Nelson areas? Zbo and I were thinking about making an appearance next weekend if snow looks good.

Probably 3+feet on the way for the Cascades (already 9" in past 4 hours at Snoqualmie) but on Monday the true pineapple arrives and weather forecast mentioned between 5"-10" of rain!!! Fuck, this sounds a lot like the one that might have killed the '04-'05 season. Hoping F/L hold off long enough to mitigate the rain (though we could use some rain after the storm, our snowpack is supposed to get very unstable)

-------- from NOAA forecast for Washington--------
    RAINFALL AMOUNTS FORECAST
FOR THE MOUNTAINS ON MONDAY ARE TRULY BREATHTAKING. 5-10 INCHES IN
SEVERAL BULLSEYES OVER THE OLYMPICS AND CASCADES MEANS FLOODING.
THIS WILL BE ON TOP OF SUNDAY RAIN IN THE OLYMPICS. COULD BE LOOKING
AT SOME VERY HIGH RIVERS FLOWING OFF THE OLYMPICS BY LATE MONDAY. A
FLOOD WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR EVERYWHERE FOR MONDAY INTO WEDNESDAY.

It's looking touch-and-go. If we get lower freezing levels this storm will set us up nicely - otherwise...

We went up to WW, and skied West Ymir bowl today, on the strength of a kootenayskier.wordpress.com TR. The bowl was windscoured and nasty, but at least I got out on my skis finally!.

The Rossland Range is a bit thinner, and not quite ready to go. It's puking nice blower outside right now.

Just a bit to the north (Kaslo, Retallack etc) they have a real snow pack I hear. If I'm not back at work next week, I'm gonna have to check it out.

forecast for central oregon is 6-8" overnight with temps in the low twenties.

then the temp is suppose to spike up, but Bach should be good for some turns in the a.m.

    git sum.

I know even further than that in the Trout Lake, Revelstoke, Roger's Pass area the snow is really deep for this time of year with HS at 2000m of around 200cm.
