Since Xover doesn't have a Bird pass, I'll have to fill in and give everyone the sick details. I was a little delayed leaving this morning, but still hopped on the Tram at 9:30. There's only two inches at most at the base, but the report said 6". I assume that there's more up top. First run - scope out the Flux. It's the chute to the skiers left of Great Scott that funnels to a small air about 1/3 of the way down. We've straightlined it in the past, but I wasn't sure how deep and smooth the runout was. After making some turns before the air to keep the speed down, I let it rip. It was deep and smooth. Spatulas don't hurt either. I should have ripped it from the top. That will be done Wed. or Thurs. morning for sure.
Next 4 laps - Baldy. The 8 minute bootpack is well worth it. 6 inches of fresh creamy windbuff, plenty of vertical, and plenty of steepness/airs. The hike really kept people away today - it stayed fresh all morning. My 2nd lap was the best as I skied a shot that was totally fresh. It's open in some spots with small groups of trees dotting the run. I love hauling ass through a slot of trees that opens up for a few turns before you have to slip between some more trees.
I finished up the day with two laps through hanging bowl. It was near 1 PM and yet it was hardly tracked out. Not that that was unexpected. I absolutely love the dense creamy pow on my Spatulas - I can ski so fast while staying in total control with minimal effort. I had to call it a day at this point - I need to save a little bit for the next couple of days. Hopefully, we'll get some pictures of some maggots doing some crazy stuff.
Splat and other maggots - sorry we didn't meet up for any turns today. I'll look for you guys Weds and Thurs.
