I don't recommend taking a funshape ski to WC because you'll get worn out skating/traversing.

I need to volunteer either tonight or tomorrow night (EMT at a frat party thing), and I absolutely can't get out of whichever one they sign me up to do. I could
    1) work the event tonight, ski at Loveland or in SuCo tomorrow and head to SW CO tomorrow night. They need EMTs badly, so I think they'd prefer I work tonight. The event ends at 2 am.
    2) Try to switch to working tomorrow night's event and head down this afternoon to SW CO to ski Wolf Creek, Telluride, or CB tomorrow (not even sure which at this point), and try to make it back to boulder for the 9 pm event tomorrow night. Missing that event would not be an option.
    3) Drive down after tonight's event, leaving Boulder at 2:15 AM, hoping and praying to arrive before first chair (how likely is this for Wolf Creek, Telluride, or CB?) and stay tomorrow night and ski all day Sunday somewhere.
    4) Beg and plead with other EMTs, and probably pay money, for someone to work my shift this weekend and just head down this afternoon and ski all day tomorrow and all day sunday in SW CO.

#4 is the most desirable but the least likely, I think.

    Any help with options 1-3?
I vote to save any radical efforts for when it would be really worth it, but that's just my .02.

I recommend a fun shape ski because it is going to snow 4 feet.

Obviously it's a little early to try to figure out who will get what by the morning... but I've got a snow boner already.

With the 11" breck got in the last 48 hrs - if they get hit again I can't imagine driving much further than that.

If Wolf Creek gets 4 feet it will suck. too flat. 2 feet of new and the place could go off, but 4 is for building base, not skiing...
    Drive slow, homie.

I think the smart thing to do would be going down to Wolf Creek and plan on skiing the backcountry only. That way you're guaranteed deep turns, and you aren't at the mercy of lift openings, crowds, closed roads, etc.

Like others have said, you gotta look at this storm as the base builder considering there's been roughly nothing before it.

Is there any way we could stop the jinxing?

or are we going to try and fuck up the whole winter?

Recent studies have proven that posts on message boards have no effect on local or global weather patterns.

or Monarch Pass. About 2 hours closer, they're still forecasting 3' and they actually had enough snow on some north facing aspects to ski, prior to this dumping.

    Lotta snow. Lotta wind.

It'll be loading. What was on the ground has more than likely turned to crap. Remember to use CAUTION where ever you go.

For this reason alone, inbounds areas are going to be doing lots of contol work I would assume. Any new stuff that opens is going to take a while to get ready and open. Most of the snow will come Fri nite thru Sat. I can't see a rush for Sat mornin being worth what many are thinking it will be.

Lots of good advise to be heard in this thread.

The area is still closed, right? Skinning around the resort could be a good idea as well.

    Yep, it's still closed.

Who's been to Monarch Ski Resort / Pass lately. How's it looking? Is there any base?

Good advice FZ....Not to mention the nightmare driving scenarios of travelling through 2-3' of the heavy wet snow they are forecasting.

I'm fearful that Colo B/C skiers have become complacent to the avy danger in situations like this due to the relatively low danger years we've gotten the past couple of seasons due in large part to deeper, more solid early season snowpacks.

Fingers crossed for good base building.
