    enduro closeouts

This deal may be too good to pass up.

    http://www.globalbikesbikeshop.com/salebikes.html

Enduro Expert for $2000 and Elite for $1350, you just have to pick it up in Pheonix.

I have been considering a new bike for a while now, or new frame at least, to replace my Giant AC1 from years ago. It has nice components- Fox36 Fork, Hadley Hubs and Hand built wheels, etc. My question is, what bike setup to get. I like the all mountain aspect of the AC- and it is actually not bad for the downhill side of things (vastly improved with a coilover fox shock), for a bike that peddle fairly well up hill. However, I'm a little burnt on biking right now. I don't want to give up too much for the occasional lift serve day, or rough downhill, but the xc side of things feels pretty sluggish. I have a hardtail singlespeed which feels pretty snappy, but it is too hard on me to take anywhere but the rolling terrain of Hartman Rocks.

    So, do I:

    1. Get the Enduro Elite, swap the fork, enjoy two wheelsets

    2. Get a Reign 08 frame for about the same price as the whole enduro bike

    3. Wait for the new Trans Covert 08 Frame

    4. Buy a RP23 for the AC1 to diversify, use saved $ to buy 1x9 29er.

Yeh I could, and have done a search on all this, but the deal has me thinking...

    /\ /\ Probably worth a phone call.

The tricky part of the whole deal is having to pick it up in person....

Not to mention the S-works is only $2999. That thing is dead sexy.

Oh, I didn't see the link, damn. At least get a Pro then and ride around on the rad brown ano frame. I do have to say I like the older Enduros better then the SL. They're much more freeride oriented.

c'mon kidwoo, it's definitely more "freeride" than the current SL if you use this sort of thing as a benchmark for "freeride" --

I would get the Enduro. That is a killer deal. I have been running an Enduro Expert for 2 years now as my main bike and love it. It is a little overkill for a lot of the rides at Hartmans but it kills descents off the crest, is fun for the occasional lift serve and pedals well enough.

Not to knock the Enduro SL, it kicks some serious ass, but I'm still stoked of the 06 Enduro for their stoutness (if that is a word). If I had a ten foot drop in front of me, and a choice between an 06 Enduro or an SL, I'd take the old one no questions asked.

Trigger pulled on the Enduro Elite. I will swap out my Talas 36 and hand built wheels and it will basically be the same as the Expert.

Then... I have a new wheelset and 130mm shock. So, I pull old parts together, find a cheap hardtail frame and have a SS with disc brakes (old SS is scary and should probably be a towny), perhaps even rig up a 1x9 hardtail.

Don't think I could have scored much better for $1350.

Honestly, I think it's just because they were built with heavier parts

Similar angles and I know plenty of people who broke the chainstays on those things.

Let me get some pics this weekend for you

I work for a Specialized dealer (soon to be concept store). I'm just want to hear other people's opinions about the bikes. I'm still riding my '04 Enduro (although nothing is stock anymore), considering a Chumba XCL, Evo, or new Enduro (though I think I would put a DHX 5.0 and Lyrik on an SL frame if I did).

Air or coil? Just curious, I'm thinking of swapping the dhx air to coil on my 05 enduro.

Honestly, I'd say the only reason you should look at an SL is if you want a bike that climbs better. I don't think there's enough of a difference in downhill performance. The SLs maintain a much more neutral, level position on climbs where I always felt the older style squatted a good bit without going nuts on the propedal settings.

Plus if you get an SL, you've got to deal with the crappy AFR shock.....and it sounds like you don't want the fork.

I wasn't necessarily saying the SLs are appreciably BETTER at freeridey geometry, just certainly not worse.

I had a 2005 Enduro Pro, and until yesterday I had a 2007 Enduro Expert I got on a closeout deal same as that one. The 2007 Expert had a better component set than the 2005 Pro when it was spec'ed out brand new. For an All Mountain ride/ Light Freeride those bikes are hard to beat. I would skip the low end version unless you only ride occasionally. The Expert will grow with you. I actually bought it because my riding partners were holding me back on their 5 inch trail bikes, and I let them use it to show them what they were missing. One of them bought a Pro on closeout a few weeks ago, and the other brother bought my expert yesterday. You can't go wrong. And Specialized customer service is among the best.

I say all that I have been riding Santa Cruz/Iron Horse for a while now. The old Enduro line hold up.

Damn, my forum reading comprehension needs work. Good deal on the ride. Was it the army green color?

I've had two Enduros. One a Pro, the other an Expert. And I have an Enduro SL I use as a backup bike. For the past two seasons I have ridden a Santa Cruz Nomad as my primary trail/light freeride bike.

All of the suspension stuff on an Enduro SL is currently proprietary, and I am not certain that after market gear is out yet?

If you want a modular bike, and want to ride hard, I would check out SC, Yeti, Intense, etc. The SL just isn't in that league.

Might want to reassess the 'operator' part of that equation.......

There's nothing 'non-modular' about an enduro. I didn't like the afr shock and promptly put a stock, standard bought from fox RP23. The headtube is 1 1/8 just like a few other bikes out there on the fringe.

I ride hard on it too.

that's my friend john in the vid

He rides his harder than I ride mine. There's nothing from intense or santa cruz that holds a candle to this bike. I tried. And then sold my 6.6 to buy this one
