READ the thread Nancy. I have them now, but I have never bought a gun for protection. Quit quoting shit to suit your needs.

I know exactly what you wrote. The problem I have with the idea is that it implies that the 30K is somehow preventable. As if those thirty thousand people each year would be alive if not for the existence of private firearms. In a perfectly gun free america that number would probably be replaced by 20,000 give or take deaths by not-firearms. Murders, suicides, accidentally killing oneself... whatever. To me, the fact that those people are dead by a firearm does not make their death any more or less tragic. And actually purging those firearms from the nation is a task the nitty gritty of which I don't think people are really prepared for how nasty it'll be.

And FYI - at some other sites my position on the spectrum of gun control issues is classified as being pro-gun-control. I certainly do not agree with the position as laid out by the GOA or even the NRA (a much more compromising organization). I'm for restrictions though that would make a truly meaningful difference without comprimising the basic conceptualization of the RKBA a normal gun owning american might have of the amendment.

I thought he was referring more to the fact that you weren't making a whole lot of sense, but thats just my guess.

Glad you're fully coherent again ice.

EDIT: You wanna fight or something? I got half a beer to finish.

Generally my yappy little lapdog, I named him "rideit" but last night he didn't want to hang with me for some reason.

Yeah but it was definitely WROD-type shit. I have a pass so I didn't feel too bad about bailing after a couple hours but I feel bad for anybody who bought a ticket. Like my buddy and his daughter and girlfriend who came out, that was kind of a slaughter, $43 for 1.5 runs open, ouch.

But I skied some and got to hang with my bud Doug and with my main man Skifishbum and also with Buzzworthy and Twoplanker and a whole shitload of people at dinner Friday and Saturday nights, and we got the airfare on points and my ankle felt good (HALLEFUCKINLUJAH!) so it was all good, all good.

what do you want for nothing?

I'll tell you what, I love AC and I'm not gay, but if I didn't and I was, I'd be stalking Dan. He's off the coolometer.

On the other hand, AC is the best so I guess Dan's smart to have um, nailed her down. So to speak. No offense.

    That's a cool couple.

the weekend worked out pretty damn good, considering.
