    Summer PacNW skiing

How long are Whistler and Mt Hood open to actual skiing? I know that at some point they serve just racing and freestyle camps, but when does that happen?

just trying to piece together what is still lift-served, and will be for awhile yet.

    Alpental until this weekend

Baker, on weekends, until about mid-may? june?

    Whister, until?

    Hood, until?

    Bachelor, until?

Wait while I check out the websites for those resorts and get the info. Then I will post a reply with everything you need to know.

    Or...

Uh, Baker closes the 25th of April. But you knew that, because it says so on their website...

Yeah BB, I hadn't looked yet. Thanks for letting me know.

W/B - both sides until Apr. 25th when blackcomb shutters. Whistler side only until June 6th. After that, Back to Blackcomb, on Horstman glacier. Anybody been up there during that time? Wondering how much room there is for actual skiing, and how much is used by the camps.

Mt Hood Meadows - Opened until May 2nd.

Timberline - doesn't say when they shift over from winter mode to summer mode, but summer mode sounds like it's only one lane that parallels the camps. Sounds shitty. Anybody been there?

Mt Bachelor full-on this weekend, then gradually shutters down until May 31st.

The public portion of blackcomb for skiing consists of a small groomer and a decent sized public park. Of course you can always hike above high norths terrain for a cool 40* slope, cornice drop, etc and poach extreme coulior.

They aren't sure yet - which is why it doesn't say.

T-Line in summer is usually 1 lane + Public Park until noonish, when the racers disappear, and so do the lanes. Last year the public park was hike in & out by early August. Who knows this year.

I've also had some really great powder days in May at Whistler. You can also get good package deals around that time. Definitely a great time for a weekend trip.

If you only skied the lane it would get boring real quick. But I always traversed out of the lanes to the west, below Illumination Rock. On a warm day, nice long corn runs without anyone else around.
Then after they close, go to Hood River and ride a 3 meter sail all afternoon.

Last May I had back to back 10 inch pow days at t-line. Then everything melted away super fast. There's a whole lot else to the mountian than the area skiing, though. I plan to ski through August on Snowdome.
