    What's the best lens for capturing an apocalyptic caldera eruption?

    Definitely a macro lens that will allow super close-up focusing. The bottom line is you wanna get as close to the action as possible... my $0.02

    someone preparing for yellowstone???

    Wouldn't you want the opposite of a macro lens, something telephoto with huge zoom cause you wont be right next to the volcano. Isn't macro for like focusing something thats only an inch or two away? You wont be a matter of inches away from an erupting caldera will you???(or did my sarcasm meter for the last post just not go off b/c me=stupid???)

    Id think some sort of crazy wide angle would be great, the erectio....eruption will be fuckin hudge, you want to get it all.
