Mini TR: Urban Jibbing in Vail After a Storm
Tuesday, March 2, 2004
Blurred Elevens plays in the City of Vail after a full day of post-storm BC skiing (see link for that TR and pics http://tetongravity.com/forums/showt...threadid=10117 ).
Long overdue stoke due to idiots at the photo lab and my laziness. (All images copyright: Me)
With plenty of light, plenty of snow, plenty of film, but no lifts, Blurred decided to hit a few of the features in the City of Vail. We came across a parking garage where an old man was shoveling snow. Worried that he would call the police, our setup was low key until Blurred stepped over the railing while I stood below with the camera. “He isn’t going to jump off the roof, is he?” asked the old man.” Of course not,” I replied, “that would be insane!”

If you look you can see the difficulty involved with this jump. Blurred had to hit the LZ spot on. Forward and he would hit the asphalt. Landing slightly back would lead to a backwards fall onto concrete and a metal. If he landed or checked on either side, he would be impaled on the metal stakes supporting the tree. Luckily, he landed spot on and stuck it clean.

Parking Garage #2
We left behind the guffawing old man whose only parting comment was a stuttered “Is this for a magazine?” Nearly to the bus stop at Riva Bahn, we encountered a two-tiered parking lot embankment covered in snow. It had to be hit.
