Cool Kirkwood Comp Finals video and some other random Kirkwood video ski stoke

I just had to throw together some video clips to appease phUnk.

When I say 'throw together', I mean it. This was a quick and dirty job.

First is from monday April 12th. Hardrider and myself in the Thunderbowl area of Kirkwood. Lift service b/c. The video is of hardrider. We did two laps and harvested some absolutely perfect corn until Hardrider hit the largest tree in this nice gladed area at hi speed. Judging from the way his legs were twisted at the base of this tree and listening to his incessant moaning, I was pretty convinced I was skinning out alone to get him some help. He sucked it up and climbed out however.

    Anton ThunderBowl

The next set of clips is from the very minimal skiing we did the weekend of the comp. Now you may ask, 'lph, WTF is up with the music???' Well, this is the first Kellie video I have posted, so I chose something I thought she might like and in the process, my guess is I will piss off skier666 at the same time. BONUS! Kush is samwiched b/t their two clips.

Random clips from weekend of the Kirkwood comp

Kirkwood Comp final Day. I shot a bunch of video, most of it was shit as I was using a handheld from what felt like miles away, without a tripod. I chose the stuff which is watchable and simply cut it together and left the background noise in place.

    Comp Video

Enjoy! (ice, I fully expect this to fall to page two by tomorrow morning. )

I always suspected that kush and skier666 belonged to the Dido fan club.

As for Kellie's line, I should point out that the snow was fairly awful back there. Some of the worst glop I've been in all year. All of us pussed out and took the easy way around. She charged that sucker like a champ.

LPH...you'd be surprised to know that Dido actually sits in my wife's caselogic. I listen to a lot mellow music contrary to popular belief....btw - you do the editing you pick the music

HR's Thunderbowl run literally looks like powder compared to last Friday....and what was up with that rock to snow ollie?

    Kellie....nice work!

    Kush...I heart you!

....as far as my shot...it looks like all that coke I did before that line got me a little jittery. The compression doesn't even show the icebergs I had to land between.

I was wondering why you were so jumpy. Still though, that shot doesn't do that line justice. Or perhaps you're just so smoooove you make it look easy.

Let me rephrase that. Perhaps it wasn't the shot per say. More like the shot (or any for that matter) doesn't give you the feeling of actually standing there, looking at the line, soiling your shorts, and saying, "WTF is that crazy bastard doing?"

....didn't know LPH was filming that whole time but just wanted to hit it perfect...

There's a lot of Ice/Rock Exposure from where I was....there was a little patch of snow that I wanted to land-on and stop, this way I could have a controlled air turn onto the ledge below. However, you can't go too far on that air turn because there's rocks down there so you have to land in a left-hand turn....

So the one guy stops above a huuuugggeeee 5 footer and ponders it for say.....half an hour??

Than, another guy has the shaky leg syndrome and is pissing down his leg for like 3 days until he stairsteps five feet to like 7 feet.....whoa, sickbird!!!

Only thing good there was lph killing it with killer editing and music.

Normally I don't respond to shite. But all I have to say is you weren't there; and if you were, you wouldn't have skied either line cause you would have shat your pants. You see there's this thing called ice. It's kinda hard to billy goat on. Also making turns down a steep exposed line in slidy mush isn't exactly easy either.

Blurred, I have no doubt in my mind 666 would run circles all around you all day, anywhere in any conditions. So until your spoken to, why don't you sit your ass down and shut the hell up ya facking ass clown!

Actually, skier 666 had a gnarlier line than i first thought..that was a tight spot to land on...Nice Dude. That first guy though lamed out on that 5 footer pretty good. prolly sucked up 3mb of just watching him sit there and contemplate that shit.

Like I said earlier, you can't see the conditions in the video...except for the very large patch of ice that only an idiot would miss. Kellie ended up stopping past the intended take off point because the snow was very slidy and absolute shit in that whole area. If you had skied it or even bothered to actually look at the whole vid you'd actually be applauding her, because it's around 40-45 degrees and falling means tumbling over a 20-30 footer. Second point, relating to the seemingly easy 5 footer, please notice the 3 feet of ice fall she had to ski on to take that hit (there's a reason she probed the snow with her pole). Jeebus, you're an idiot. Post, then smoke crack.

What Arty said.....besides, we all know its much more difficult to sit in your armchair, watch vids on the internet, and critique someone elses skiing of lines that they can only see in a grainy vid clip

The delusional ramblings of an internet blowhard

You guys are so gay. With that said, you better hold on to your keyboard, cause me and my 50 pound daypack are going to post some illin' helmet cam footage, which wouldn't be complete without narration. I think you'll enjoy my waxing poetic on the sheer stupendousness of my line.

Now this is what I want to see! Instead of talking about how you're going to rip the shit out of a line, you can actually let us know that you are, at the very moment, ripping the shit out of a line.

This interweb stuff just gets better and better.

Thanks for the props Flanker, but I find this whole thing pretty funny since we all should be actually skiing then sitting here at work analyzing every frame....

Man, it'll be bulletproof the next two days...anyone up for Alpine tomorrow? I've got some free tickets...
