    Google Maps Street View

    Um. Wow.

So this only applies in a few areas, and some of those areas aren't well tracked yet, but portland is one of them.

    so is

    San Francisco
    Denver (not well covered yet)
    LA and others

The portland one was done just a few months ago if even that.

maps.google.com go to street view, gauk voyeristically at yourself.

Here's the place we're trying to buy:

All parkland to the left (west), all protected farmland to the east and north. 38 acres. The treeline defines it. 25 or so miles to the White House. One of my best buddy's family has owned the land around it for ~350 years. It used to be part of their farm. If we get it I'll be stoked.

Hey iceman, if you buy that place make sure to tell your neighbor to start maintaining his swimming pool a little better.

heh, the one to the right, up the road, is an irrigation pond. He can do what he wants with it.

The one on the property (above the house) is kinda dank, it's more like a frog pond at this point. The owners are like 85, they don't care. We'll fix it up.

edit: the house and all that at the lower right (southeast) corner is part of the place. It's pretty much rectangular.

    Yes, but with the traffic...

Jokes aside, I can attest to the fact that this is a super-nice area. Plus it's a short drive from the Dog Fish Head brew pub. What's not to like? If the sale goes through mid-Atlantic mag shindig out there will be in order. Something to top the Ullrfest.
