    Question for Jasper locals: hotsprings?

The Miette hot springs near Jasper look really fantastic. Unfortunately my girlfriend and I are visiting in the winter when the official swimming pool-style facilities are closed.

I hear the access road is closed too, making it a 17km hike from the Trans-Canada. Would any Jasper locals be willing to share tips on ways to get at the hot springs in winter? PM would be great...

umm, no way to do it.

    PM jetski for more info.

Jasper is kinda sleepy in the winter, and lots of stuff will be closed.

The "natural" hot spring pool is hot enough to poach yer boys and likely cook the meat off your bones. Parks cools the water before it enters the pool.
Just poach hot tubs, get hammered at the Atha-B, Pete's or the Ded dog, and enjoy the thin snow pack.

Thanks for the advice. I guess I had in mind something more like Meager Creek hot springs in Pemberton, where the ball-blanching 60C water gets cooled naturally by the bedrock as you go further downhill.

I guess I should be looking for hotels with hot tubs instead.

JPL is away from town, but really really nice, romantic etc. outdoor ice rink, nice hikes, hot tubs, etc.

Astoria downtown is nice, quiet, cheapish, no Tub

Also some good deals on B&B's I bet, In the spring we paid $75 for 2 rooms in a nice basement suite.

You can't do it. It's a commercial op and it is closed up in the winter. There is a caretaker up there so if you know the right people things can happen but otherwise it's like hiking 17 snowy km's to try to break into a swimming pool.
Move along nothing to see here.

B&B's will be tough this winter as the Kinder Morgan Pipeline has eaten up much of the accom in town. Good deals on hotels still.

On a snow note... We are actually doing ok and have opened with less before.
Here is hoping for a timely opening.
