I use to tell my parents, "You know, I think skiing is my religion."
I got chased around the house with a wooden spoon.
I'd say this poll and the information potentially rendered from it has absolutely no place in this forum. I think I'll pass, Mr. Ashcroft.
Too bad he didn't include 'I am an asshole' so he could participate in his own poll.
Freedom of speech and religion must not be a known practice to him.
You think? Sounds like you're pretty shaky in your beliefs. ;)Quote:

I consider myself spiritual but not aligned with any fomalized religion. I usually say my temple is the mountains. I feel more spiritual there than I ever have tithing 10% or sitting on a hard bench listening to some priest/minister/etc lecture on about why I'm going to hell if I don't do this or if I question things.
Jah Rastafari!!!!!!!!!!!!

HA ! that's exactly what my mom would do to me, and if that didn't work I would get the belt from pops when he got home from work. ah the good old days of corporal punishment. So much more effective than a " time out " :DQuote:

If you haven't noticed we discuss everything on this board. From the Middle East, to Gay Marriage. Religion seems to be the dividing force in most issues.
"Information potentially rendered from it?" Man, you really do fit the profile for a paranoid Schitzo...
Get off yourself already.
Did you hear the one about the Dyslexic Agnostic Insomiac?
He stayed up all night wondering whether or not there was a dog.
whoa blurred....I knew i didn't like your posts for a reason.
Get over yourself and try to think of others for a second.
I do believe I just heard a distinct "SLAP" from over here...Quote:

Why can't we all just get along?
Seems we have the same feelings on this issues. But the mountians being my temple etc., means I tithe way, way more than 10% of my income!Quote:

Oh, the white folks hate the black folks,
And the black folks hate the white folks;
To hate all but the right folks
Is an old established rule.
But during National Brotherhood Week,
National Brotherhood Week,
Lena Horne** and Sheriff Clark*** are dancing cheek to cheek.
It's fun to eulogize
The people you despise
As long as you don't let 'em in your school.
Oh, the poor folks hate the rich folks,
And the rich folks hate the poor folks.
All of my folks hate all of your folks,
It's American as apple pie.
But during National Brotherhood Week,
National Brotherhood Week,
New Yorkers love the Puerto Ricans 'cause it's very chic.
Step up and shake the hand
Of someone you can't stand,
You can tolerate him if you try!
Oh, the Protestants hate the Catholics
And the Catholics hate the Protestants,
And the Hindus hate the Moslems,
And everybody hates the Jews.
But during National Brotherhood Week,
National Brotherhood Week,
It's National Everyone-Smile-At-One-Another-Hood Week.
Be nice to people who
Are inferior to you.
It's only for a week, so have no fear;
Be grateful that it doesn't last all year!
Consider this as one check mark in the "NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS" box.
Winner!Quote:

I'm fine with blurred, we took care of things through pm, what a good feature that can be sometimes.
Easy there, Trigger. My reservations have to do with people stating their religion, not with the NSR content. And if I'm not mistaken, most people here seem to agree that if anyone is paranoid about anything, it's you in relation to your sexual orientation.Quote:

Does everyone know that the you stay anonymous when you vote? Not that I care, my bottle of Jack is my God.
This is your god - Bow DOWN!
Ullr, a.k.a. Uller, Ullin, Holler, Vulder, and Ull, is a pre-Viking era Nordic God and he kept fine company with the likes of Odin, Thor, and other esteemed deities. Among his many skills, he was the god of skiing, archery, hunting, and was known to be quite promiscuous (which he may have inherited from his mother Sif, the Goddess of Fertility).

I don't know what to say besides: you first.
I voted just to give Blurred something to get all freaky-deaky psycho-religious about the next time we have a disagreement.
My grandmother once said "Religion is for the weak. I don't need to cling to a rope like a coward." Kind of some fucked up shit to say to a six year old on his way home from Sunday school.
this is pretty funny considering it comes from a "reverend":DQuote:

So its ok for people to talk about anything on this board, as long as it has NSR or NSFW in the thread title and it includes no mention of religion? WTF! People get completely heated up about someone stating thier belief in god but you better not think about telling them they are not allowed to talk about their athiest beliefs. Whats the matter? Does someone talking about god and Jesus give you the creeps? Are you so insucure in your own beliefs that someone talking about a different religion scares the crap out of you? I don't get it.
I clicked Christian. I have not been to church more then twice in the last year, and I feel that a lot of what the church does and says is BS. That bieng said I still believe in the basic tenents of Christianity: There is one god, he created you, so he deserves your love and respect. His son walked this earth, he died for you, he deserves your love and respect.
Christianity is all about bieng a good person, the ten commandments are something everyone should live by regardless of religion (i guess except for the one about only believing in one god. I believe it but if you don't thats your choice.)
There, I stated my religous beliefs on the internet. Is everyone going to tear me a new ass? Maybe, I don't care. However, if I had said I was an athiest no one would have a problem with me. Niether the athiests nor the christians, but because I choose to believe in god someone (most likely an athiest) will probably rant and rave.
I say:
Good for the people who are proud of what they are and good for the others who respect their thoughts

Your head is in the mud you bible thumping freak!
Actually, you just made post of the day. I agree with you completely.
Easy there PA. So far you is the only one to rant and rave about your religion in this thread.
I'm not going to bash on you for your religion. Don't bash me for mine. It is, however, solely up to me. Hence I will not discuss it.
You're not going to bash on him for his religion? Did he say he would bash you?Quote:

You're such a good God Grrrrr....... Loser.
I am glad you are not going to bash me for my religion, and I don't believe I said anything that would indicate I was going to bash you for your beliefs, I appoligise if you read it that way. If you choose not to share your beliefs, that is fine, and it is your right. My words were not aimed at you. They were aimed at those (well one person really) that have a problem with those whom are willing to discuss their religion.Quote:

That bieng said, most of the posts in this thread were just made for amusement, and the one about the dyslexic person was damn funny. My rant was based more on life experiences then what goes on on this board.
It seems that some people who love to shout about their first ammendment rights bieng infringed upon are the same ones who feel that someone speaking about religion infringes on their own religous freedom. It seems hypicritical to me.
I certainly did not mean to imply that I thought you would bash me for my religion. My post was made as a live and let live expression. I'm more concerned that the very thread was started as an attempt to kindle atheist vs. Christian antagonism.
Certainly there are a few here that look for opportunities to criticize anyone who believes differently than they do. Fortunately, very few. And there are bona fide issues in our society in which the choice of religion weighs upon our collective decisions. But trying to spark such a debate on the basic issue of what someone believes, separate from the issues of state politics, rights or societal responsibilities is of little use.
When was the last Atheist crusade or jihad? When was the last time an atheist FORCED you to pledge allegiance to a piece of cloth? Is it an atheist symbol that gets burned when the KKK gets together for a lynching?
I'm a schussist. I believe in a god, since I lack a better term, because otherwise I'd have been talking to no one all these years. I worship at many temples, some mountains, some machines (motorcycles in particular), all of which gladly welcome my attention as my only donation. I believe in treating all people nicely, and trying not to let things get to me. We like scotch too.
