was he a member of the confederacy before?
$4,500,000 pro-rated salary a month
5 starts per month
~$900,000 a start:eek:
Average 100 pitches a start (the dude is 45)
9,000 dollars a pitch.:fuckyou:
FUCK YOU YANKEES, CONGRATS ON THE 350 MILLION DOLLAR LAST PLACE TEAM!!
His press conference was a thing of beauty. What was he talking about?
"I met with the owner Mr. Steibrenner. He told me some thing that I can't tell you now, but maybe someday when the time is right, I can, blah, blah........."
Or some shit like that.
Didn't Clemens already have a stint with the yankees or is my brain still rattled from yesterday?
And I think the guy is a robot because he still throws down and it seems like he's been pitching since I was in kindergarten.
Honestly, he's already played a gazillion games in the AL East, so it's not like a new novelty here. The guy is a gamer and keeps himself in awesome shape. Can he singlehandly get the Spankees back on top of the division? Nah.. Will it sell to Sunday Night baseball sponsors when they match him up against Daisuke? You bet
Maybe...
Just maybe.
Well then, if you knew we were bored and had to break out our spelling and grammAr police badges, then why did you fall for the bait?
Ya that could be some game. Roger is a gamer and keeps in outstanding shape. Hell most of the pitchers in MLB do his workout routine now. Just ask Schilling.
I'm a Yankees fan myself. Even though ARod is hot right now. I would have rather seen him traded for about 3 pitchers.
Baseball's yucky.
I skied well today.
True, but Roger is also known as a leader, and has been the leader on each staff he has been on. He knows how to pitch and pass that along.
Baseball wise I think it was a mistake. But George was just looking at all the TV/ticket revenue cash now. 6 games out of first. Bullpens arms are wore out. I don't see them winning the division, and they have poor chance of getting the wild card the way the AL West is. Made more baseball sense to me to trade Arod for pitching. But George likes his checkbook.
Yes Rogers performance last year with Houston wasn't the greatest, but he had no run support and his defense behind him made more errors when he pitched than with any other Houston pitcher. That and his fastball was flat alot and his slider he couldn't get across the plate at times for strikes. His Splitter is still most likely the best in the game. But he needs that slider away to set up the inside high cheese to put the batter away with "Mr Spitty" to be effective.
And he is 44. I guess we will find out come October if it was a smart move or not. Until then I will certainly enjoy watching the games.
It'd make much more sense to get a couple GOOD rookies, throw them in AAA for a few months, then call them up now and then and get em ready for next season. Instead George is gonna blow his load this season on a has been to sell more seats.
Unless George is ready to jam his tongue up someone's ass, nobody is gonna pay what A-Roid wants to see for dollar signs.
My thoughts exactly. If the Yankees are still way back come the trading deadline in August I would expect George to make a move unloading ARod for some young arms, and possibly Caveman for a draft pick or two and a pitcher.
That being said I think Rogers biggest impact will be settling the pitchers down. Guidrey is ok but he is no Stottlemeyer as a pitching coach. Roger I'm sure will be used by Joe to shore things up a bit in that dept. He is like another pitching coach on staff, but is in the rotation.
Go Sox, (The real Sox, AKA Boston).... You know my postion,... Skankees suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My thoughts? Nothing can help the Yankees now :FIREdevil :FIREdevil
I'll take Shiling over clemens any day, I'll also take Matsusaka, Beckett or Wakefield over him. Amazing how much money the yanks are willing to waste
Great pick up for the Yankees! It's good for baseball too. Clemens is probably the best pitcher to ever play the game. This will also be great for the young pitchers in the Yankee organization, to learn from the best.
Schilling is nothing more than a self promoting, ketchup sock wearing, fat windbag!
My thoughts? Don't care.
Rockies suck
meh. he's not gonna help the spankees much other then to psyche up the yankee collective to think they gotta shot. they don't. YANKEES STILL SUCK!!!!
though like someone else said, when he matches up w/ the sox again it'll def be on national tv so i'm stoked for that.
Samuel?...
Nothing drops a person lower on my humanity scale than being a money grubbing slob. What happened to athletes that play for the sport? Clemens is no better than the ticket scalper on the street or the WII/PS3 hockers on Ebay raping you for a 500% markup. You know, its one thing to go out and have your agent find you the best deal, or come back from retirement to give your hometown team a chance, but when you choose to do so cuz someone finally waives a large enough wad of cash in your face is just wrong. If the Yankees didn't have the pitching DL problems that they are having, I'm guessing the wad wouldn't have been so big, and Roger would be still be retired. And what's with this starting pitching in June shit? Roger's reached the level where he dictates his own season now and doesn't have to play the whole season or hit spring training with the rest of the team? Must be great for that team atmosphere... His arrogance has truly reached a new level. I mean he's always been an asshole, even in Boston, but I've got a new appreciation for this loser. Nothing would give me more pleasure than to watch on as a baseball bat rips through his scull and splatters his little red-neck, pea-brain all over the place.
How is Roger going to be a leader when he only shows up on the days he pitches?
Irregardless of what he does when he's not on the mound, the Yankees are a lot better today than they were yesterday.
Clemens will certainly HELP. All of you who are jumping on the "yankees pitching is in shambles, bullpen is zapped, end of the world" schpiel, obviously don't remember last year when they were more or less in the same spot. The ship will right itself, the Yankees will contend, I don't see them winning it all...
Its MAY...its going to be a long summer. The Yanks have just as good a chance of winning 4-5 in row as the Sox do losing 4-5 in a row. Those things happen, the pace will go back and forth all summer.
As a Sox fan, it's going to be fun watching our batters shell Clemens. Remember what Manny and Papi did to him in the All-Star game? Its also going to be fun watching one of the greatest pitchers of all time compete against my club.
