Line Prophet 100 Mounting

I searched, but didn't find anything on this...

I just picked up a pair of Prophet 100s in a 186. I was wondering if anyone has mounted them ahead of the mid-sole point. For anyone who has this ski, and skis at the standard mark, would you recommend doing anything different, or is the marked point just dandy? I have a set of Seths mounted at +4 (4 cm in front of the boot center mark) and I like them; I was considering doing the same with the Lines... Just can't decide.

I actually mounted my 186 -1cm....

How tall are you, what do you like to ski...?

If you are mounting these +4, you BETTER be short and like to ski bumps or something...lol

Anyway, I had the 179cm last year, and I had that mounted -3, so obviously I like a little more tip out in front. Even with the ski mounted -3, there is still a LOT of tail for an all mountain destroyer. good luck!

I'm 5' 10" and 165 lbs. I currently have 179 Seths mounted +4. I was apprehensive about mounting these there, but I really like them. I just didn't know if this was an acceptable thing to do for any ski, or if some skis are designed to allow flexibility in mounting points. This ski in particular, as the titanium plate looks as though it is intended to apply pressure to specific areas of the ski; but, I guess different sole lengths would apply pressure in different areas.

Ok, I am 5'10" as well, but 200lbs.....and, I have mounted skis everywhere....you can always re-drill and move them back if you want....

Hey, to anyone considering mounting the prophet 100... MOUNT ON THE MIDSOLE LINE!!!!

I mounted mine +4 and they kinda sucked. I took them to the shop after a few runs and re-mounted them +1 because the holes would line up if I mounted on mid sole. At midsole, or even +1 these skis fucking rule. I had them laid over so hard on a groomer at one point I think I was dragging the buckle of my boot and they never felt like they were going to let go (sure this may be common, but my Gotamas/Scratch BCs/Seths wouldn't do this). GREAT in crappy mashed potatoes, very Very good in bumps (deep bumps, small bumps, steep bumps, steep deep bumps) surprisingly quick edge to edge, awesome in tracked out snow, super stable platform for landings (10 feet-ish today), unreal at high speeds they are awesome no matter how you ski... I can't tell you how they handle in powder since I'm not sure Tahoe ever got any this year (this might matter as the 100 has a pretty deep side cut), nor did I ski them in the park as my opinion there wouldn't mean shit since I'm not any good there.

Truly a one ski quiver. I am shocked at how good these skis are, and if I didn't ski them I wouldn't have believed it. My only complaint is the thickness of the base and edge; but I can deal with that. If you have the chance to pick up a set, I'd highly recommend them.

agreed completely- mounted my 186's on the gold arrow and have never thought about it again. have skied thigh deep, w/great float and no extra effort. when you take the "evil twin" out of the flex equation, they are stiffer than most folks around here seem to give 'em credit for.
i mounted my explosivs (190) at + 1.5 cm and get a similar amount of float with no tip dive, not quite as "turny"

What is wrong with the base and edges. I know they say they are "double thick" but what didn't you like about that?

these edges are BOMBER....

I have mine mounted -1, as I stated earlier...I use these EVERYWHERE...in fact, yesterday at GAPER day at Breck, I skiied park all day on my 186's....sliding rails, etc....no edge problems EVER....

Huh, I have a brand new pair sitting in my apartment. The edges look solid, plenty thick. Maybe I am used to filed down race ski edges, but they look pretty good to me.

The double thick edge refers to how far INTO the ski the edge goes, not how thick it is height or width wise....I have gotten core shots DIRECTLY next to the edges on my lines (all lines from the past 4 years) and have never blown an edge...the edges are MUCH thicker than K2 or Volkl uses, hands down...

I just measured the edges between my seth's and the 100's edges. They are almost identical... I guess they seemed thinner because, maybe one is a capped ski, and the other has a sidewall? Maybe some optical perception thingie?

In either case, forget about the thickness remark as there really is not diff that would have any effect. Great ski all around, including edge and base thickness.

Can you verify in absolute terms, where -1 is, in distance from the tail? I have a pair of Jak Teams with the AT BSL mark on them, and I just want to confirm that the Karhu mark is the same as the Line mark.

I had a pair of Prophet 100s in their first year, and all my data about the mount point is relative to the threaded insert locations.

I could measure tonight, when I get home...

that being said, I also had a pair of last year's 100's, the green/moss ones in a 179. I had those mounted -4....if you look at the six pack of inserts on that year's stuff, the middle of the rear set of holes was -4....the middle of the front set of holes was midsole...you can get to -1 by measuring the difference of those. But, for your Karhu question, I will measure my 186's for you to figure out exactly where -1 is, no worries...check back on this thread tomorrow...

I got a 179 mounted on the line. At first glance I thought they were way too forward, but after skiing them......DAMN. Love them! These things can ski anything. They carve really strong, and even with this mount float pow beautifully. I have been riding these nonstop because they are so verstile and fun.

I ran mine using my binding plate contraption, which i had setup to automatically put me at like -1.7. So, if the center of the front set of threaded inserts is 0, then I ran them at -1.7 and liked them. The rear set was way to far back.

If you would get me a measurement from tail to the middle two threaded inserts, that would be great. Thanks.

No info on mounting because mine are mounted at recommended point but I like these skis. Good everyday ski for Hood. Twin tip is a bit bigger than I would like. Back to back skiing with Gotamas, liked these better.

My 186s are mounted at the factory recommend point. The longer tails take a bit of getting used to, but they ski well everywhere. If I didn't occasionally go into the park or ski switch, I might even consider a -1 cm mount.

Anyhow, I live in AK and can verify that these skis rock in the pow. I'd say they're at their best in the trees where they float well yet are super nimble. They're also solid in the park, or at least off jumps. I think the prophet 100s are the way to go as far as single-ski quivers.

If I had a criticism, and this is nitpicking really, it'd be that they have a speed limit. They're a little too soft and short and have a little too much sidecut to be bomber stable at high speeds. I wouldn't mind having a pair of 194 B-Squads or Legend Pro XXL's for that purpose. Of course, the prophs wouldn't be as light, as nimble, or as versitile if they were made like those skis. Still, if you're really into straightlining, huge hucks, and skiing 40+ mph, these might not be the skis for you.

bio- the numbers you seek-mid center holes to tail, measured along topsheet w/cloth tape= 32 1/8", or 81 1/2 cm. the factory "gold arrow" is 7/8" behind that mark.

Hey guys I apologize if this seems to be re-stating the obvious to some of you; but I have a pair of karhu team 100's and wanted to make sure they were mounted right. I have been trying to read up on mounting bindings and what are the markings correspond to but have found little information on that.

A) is the overall suggestion here to mount this ski -1? and is that -1cm from the center of the ski?

B) how do I go about finding the center of the ski, as it only has markings for tele and AT.

C) does anyone know where the line (golden arrow?) is on the 179 prophet 100's?

Again, sorry for the clarifications, im just new to this end of the ski (anything not involving wax)

Ultimately im trying to figure this out as the last skis I had mounted I felt didn't ski the way I wanted them to and felt myself constantly on my tails. Thanks ...

-1 refers to the distance behind the recomended boot-centerline mounting point from the factory. You may want to check out another thread on this subject: "what a difference a cm makes" where there are some measurements that may help you out.

Trying to make a choice b/w the Gotama in a 183 and the Prophet 100 186. Any insight since you have both in your quiver?

Been using a pair of 4FRNT MSP 180's for my one ski quiver. Looking for something that I can take everywhere but still get good powder performance out of. My MSP's suffer from some severe tip dive.

I am considering buying a pair of prophet 100s for my everyday ski. I live in washington and like to ski steep bowls, chutes and trees. I ski powder when I can, but more often have to settle for heavy snow and chopped up crud. also end up skiing groomers and bumps back to the chair or when it hasn't snowed in awhile.

I recently demo'ed a pair of salomon 1080 guns on a huge powder day and absolutely loved them. specifically the float and their ability to rip tight turns in the trees and chutes. I would consider getting a pair, but since powder days in washington are rare, thought I should search for a more versatile ski

thanks! does it ski a bit shorter because of the twin tip? am I right in thinking the 186 would float more in powder and blast through crud easier?

I'd recommend the 186. It'd probably be about perfect for you and your needs. I'm 6'1", ~190 lbs., and I think a ~190cm (if they made one) would be about perfect for me. That said, I love my Prophets. I couldn't imagine a better all-around ski.

Just picked up a pair of prophet 100s 186. Wondering about the mounting points people have been using this year. I've searched the form and it sounds like on the midsole line is popular. Was thinking about going alittle in front of that like +1 or 2. Anyone using this point? I'm about 5'9 180lbs. Also what are you guys using for a binding...thanks in advance.

I am taller than you and ski the 186s but find they ski short. I don't think you'd have any issue with the additional lenth given they are a twin tip. I do love this ski as an every day ski.

fwiw, I ski 186 prophet 90s at -1.5 and love them (195lbs/6'3). Tail looked massive at recommended...

which bit size you drill prophets with? 3.5x9 or 4.1x9?

btw, what's up with the old rule of thumb, like when you used 3.5 unless there was titanal plate in the ski?

Yeah, 3.5 or 3.6 for non-metal skis, and 4.1 for skis with metal.

I use 3.5 and 4.0 because that's what the local hardware store had on hand. I tap skis with a metal layer too.
