An Open Plea to Everyone in Tahoe

For those of you that know me (EvilE, Alkasqualik, OldTimer, etc) I usually try not to be to down on life, but looking at the weather forecast for north Tahoe is killing me today. I'm 4,000 miles away in the middle of the ocean that all that moisture just came from, it's 75 dgrees out, and my ski season doesn't exist this year.

Enough whining - my plea is this: To all of you lucky enough to be in Tahoe, or the locales east of it that will no doubt suck the remaining moisture out of this storm - go outside tonight, in the howling wind, in the blowing, drifitng snow; go out into the white room that I can only dream about, throw your arms up in joy, and smile. Sleep a restless sleep tonight and tomorrow night under the falling deluge of frozen goodness, lying half awake as you strain to see the coming of dawn out your window and hear the first bombs being thrown. Go out in the storm in the morning, shirk your responsibilities, get on a chairlift, and point 'em down and off something you never thought you'd ever huck your carcass off, because there would never be enough softness under it. Because tomorrow and Friday, there will be.

4,000 miles away in sunny Hawaii, there's a guy you never met who loves our sport as much as you do, but who just can't make it for this one. So I beg of you, go out there tomorrow, be safe, have fun, and tear shit up for me. I'll be back in the game next year.

you could live in houston, texas and have to live thru webcams; while all your co-workers thinks youre insane about skiing when the truth is they just dont get it !

i'd give up member of my family for 2 more weeks of vacation and a round-trip ticket ! :D

Lane, I wish so bad that I could take your advice. But my fiancee and I picked one weekend out of the winter for us to fly from SFO to San Diego, so that we can finalize our wedding plans and see the family for a few days. Doh!!!!!

Luck is so not on my side. Out of all the weekends in all of the 2004 winter, why did we plan for this weekend!?! What did I do to deserve this cruel punishment? I have been staring at the K-Wood webcam all damn morning. No work has gotten done, and I can't even pull away from the screen to get lunch. I sit here broken, with a pit in my stomach, trying to devise a way to cancel our San Diego trip and stay here to go skiing. This pure tortue!!!

My only hope is that the temps will stay way low, and the clouds will linger so that next weekend the snow will still be nice and fluffy. Maybe I'll call in sick on Monday.... Hmmmmm...

And 4,000 miles from you, Lane, there is a guy who's dieing to get a surf in on some of the big swell thats gonna come in w/ this. He's stuck at 8,000 ft, 6 hour drive from the ocean forced to watch feet and feet of powder fall from the sky as he dreams of warm water surf.

I have been thinkning of excuses all afternoon as to why I can't possible make it to San Diego Thursday night...

1) I have a job interview on Friday afternoon
2) I have an ear infection and don't want to risk damaging my hearing from the pressurization in the plane
3) My birthday is March 5th, and this would be the BEST present ever

This storm is ridiculous. It's been puking all day here in South Lake. Hardrider, lph, and I hit up Sierra today. Nob Hill was the only decent chair open, so multiple laps in Avalanche Bowl were required. It was around 30-32 degrees most of the day, so the snow was a bit sticky. But conditions were perfect for hucking our meat off of shit. I ripped this little straighline to 5 footer a couple of times, and the others hit some bigger stuff. All in all, it was a scwheeet day. And there's lots more on the way. I can't wait for the Wood to open up. It's gonna be sooooo sick.

KW morning report shows 34-54 inch storm total over about 30 hours. Carson Pass and Spur still closed though. -dave

As the tears stream from eyes because I am on a flight to San Diego tonight, there is one spot of hope for me... one tiny light that is getting me through the day. The hope that Monday could be my day. K-Weed maggots... please get some for me, and if you could find it in your hearts, leave me a small pocket of powder that I can do a full out face plant into.:p
