Nothing too crazy here--as usual, the helmetcam decided to pick and choose what it recorded (damn those things are finicky!). Regardless, it was a great day.

It´s cool !
does going one at a time not apply to helicopter backcountry skiing? was it mellow enough that it wasn't a concern (not a troll, just curious)
the helmet cam footage is nice though. the snow looks pretty good too.
i heart griz's video blog of jet fueled turns
Now taking bets on how long it will take this thread to blow up into an anti wasatch heli thread.
When was that trip? Are people seriously paying $700+ to ski unsupportable windcrust? Wow.
That was just last Thursday, and yes--there were paying clients there as well. The snow was surprisingly good in spots. Because it had been so long since new snow, the guides had to get pretty creative--meaning a little less vert and more treed areas. All of the open, exposed, "typical" heli runs were totally beat. After that, I can only imagine AK. I need that in my life, and I need it soon...
Using your skinny groomer skis I see.

Cool. I guess if clients will pay, and end up happy, then all is fair. WPG isn't in the business of skiing pow, they are in the business of pleasing clients. Just seems like a particularly grim time to be ponying up that kind of dough.
You're right--on both fronts. WPG IS in the business of pleasing clients. They told me that when conditions get like this, they will give customers the opportunity to bail at no charge. In all honesty, most of the people who are ponying up for this thing just want the experience. After doing it, I'll say that flying in the heli, being on top of remote peaks away from the resort, and just getting out there are a huge part of that experience. Of course, I would've loved 2 feet of blower, but I'm willing to bet that 85% of their clientele is big on money and small(er) on skiing skills.
'course there was no need. ;)
Carry on, now, dissect the helmetvid & teh crapy sn0w. Was that a sportzshot cam or what?
Well, maybe I can help you find those 'remote' peaks you were skiing.;)

I was really getting into that until about 1:30 in, when I started to get a serious kink in my neck. On future footage please adjust the horizontal or maybe go anti NASCAR and turn right a little more. ;)
Only $900? What a bargain! Even O Burnhard Franz approves!
Thats was cool. I like how you were gunning down the clients one by one in the end.
Yes they are finicky. I have found that a couple beefy rubberbands attaching the battery to the the camcorder keeps the plug from being pulled out of the camera. Get those wires leading to the plug secured under the rubberbands too.
Nice vid. Keep 'em coming grizz.
