im here. try to not ski here much. this year has been tough.
Yes......
I only watch a large part of my paycheck vanish to that place you speak of.
In the Dirty and ski VT. Leaving in 2 hours...
live in nyc, ski wherever i can catch a ride to
blatto has a point,
weneed to plan arendouzvous at a drty neck bar somewhere....
Doc Holidays, 9th street and Ave. A, Woodsy. It used to be one of my favorites in the city. They have a garden hose behind the bar, and if you ask politely they'll spray anyone in the bar for you.
Didn't we try to do this a week ago?Quote:

oh yeah i forgot my question. Does any one know of any good spots to hike and ski close to Ithaca (2 hour drive)?
Grew up skiing Bellearye and Hunter in the early 70's. I guess the hills haven't grown much since then?

Puck Fair. Not a dirty bar but a killer beer selection. Any night but Tuesday.Quote:

Check with the COC.
When you hit Greek Peak for night skiing after some snowfall during the day you'll find more than a few telemarkers.
I tele and live in Ithaca, but aside from breaks and the occasional bought of night skiing I mostly live in the library when here.
im in northern nj. ski mt creek and hunter and at least one trip/season to co.
im gonna try to get a mt. guide gig at mt. creek this season. anyone here do that?
i was up there last weekend. happy to leave it with you( i actually tried to leave it in jersey, but with NY and NJ; NY probably got some overlap).
I have just moved from NH to Albany. Any reputable shops around here?

These guys: http://www.highadventuresbp.com/index.html seem pretty cool, although I've never bought anything from them - they seem to be the backcountry experts south of Lake Placid. Dalbello dealer, too.
Fahenstock. Look no further. The holy grail of steep and deep.
I'm in Albany here and I second High Adventure. They're nice guys who seem to rip (and I think they lurk around here too).
we should get in early at HuntAH and then hit a bar in Woodstock. it'll be like a mini summit. has to be a weekday for me though
EDIT: or is it weakday?
Live in dirty Jersey. Ski NJ and VT as much as humanly possible...

Born and raised in Watkins Glen, NY, home of americian road racing. Now in Colorado.

Summit? Huntah? Midweek? Interesting...very very interesting...
I seem to have missed the first iteration of this thread.
me! i do! me! i do! me! i do! me! i do!
at "the edge of the suburban area around new york"
cool illustration:

yellow dashed line is the NY/NJ state line. foreground is mahwah, nj. behind it is suffern, ny. behind suffern is harriman state park on the right, ramapo "mountains" (max elevation: 1164") on the left.
for where I live, follow the pink line (rt 202) up from the state line. I'm on the second street before it makes the right turn.
I live within a not-quite world record frisbee throw of the NJ state line, but I'm still in NY damnit!!
NY gangsters make the world go round.
Third the vote for High Adventure,
wow thats like 4 people who live in the Albany area, we almost have ourselves a full fledged crew, we should think up a badass name and make some stickers:fm:
how about "full fledged crew" orQuote:
