Best song ever. Prove me wrong.

Not my thing. Van Morrison's music is too mellow for me. Each their own. Guy definitely has talent.
The word you're looking for is soulful.
Guessing you've never heard Jackie Wilson Said. That said.... it was more about the song than the artist.

Side note: ^that song is a tribute to this man the great R&B singer Jackie Wilson

To be more specific, Van Morrisons' song is a direct reference to this Jackie Wilson song Reet Petite

If you hadn't already guessed Jackie was a significant influence on Elvis Presley.

There is only one Van Morrison. There is no forwarding to the track you are looking for with him. When you are in the right mood, you just let it play all afternoon and soak in it. Soulful is right
I lost the joy in listening to him once I found out how much of an asshole he was
February of 2020 we attended his closing two nights at Caesars.
I would have thought his last night he'd blow it out. He walked off the stage after an hour and let his band play solo for the last 30 minutes.
Totally disappointed the crowd.
Plus I got covid from a China man at the blackjack table. Probably the worst concert ever.
The Jackie Wilson stuff is good, damn good.
If you are ever in Asheville-

Songs that do that for me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsccjsW8bSY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPFq6tup_mQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCiPaNWHB2U</p>
This is one that does soulful for me. Brings me close to tears, for the sheer beauty and personal reasons. There are many performances of it, this the first one that came up. It makes me miss my mom who had a deep love for Appalachian music both to listen to and to play. She played the dulcimer among other things. I have the one that she made. I cant play music to save my life but i cherish it. I also love listening to the cello a lot. It is haunting.

I still think it was those guys who built the railroad
That Tom Waits is strong even for Tom Waits.
This is not always the greatest song ever, but this year it might be:

Maybe I like Wagner while someone else likes Beethoven I think the best of anything is subjective unless you got something to count the most of
on my FB I keep getting these posts I don't ask for telling me the cars/ music/ girls in the 70's were the best to which I respond
" Are you fucking losers are telling me you peaked 50 yrs ago ? "
Van Morrison = Overrated
May not be your thing but “overrated” is a rough take for someone like Van.Quote:

I guess if I was to tap a similar vein to Van, I’d nominate Nike Drake. Weird dude gone way too soon who would have done some amazing stuff. Flash of brilliance and then poof.

well exactly ^^ you like or not like apiece of art but you cant really assign it a value unless you can say a piece of art sold a bjillion plays of WTF Van morrison is ok he would not come to such a small town but I would go see him if he did
If the artist is overrated, doesn’t that imply the the song is as well ;)
Van Morrison is an asshole and gets more fkd the older he gets it seems but the guy has killer chops and i'd say underated. So many soulful tracks and he's always on it. What a voice. I cant put him down. Always on the playlist

If you like Van Morrison, I recommend John Martyn and Nick Drake. Nick has a renaissance a decade ago showing up in movies and ads but John is still a bit unknown outside guitarist circles.
Thanks, Nick's pink moon is pretty cool and i really like John's glory box cover. Great tune. Portishead are awesome. ill save both those tunes in a playlist. Checked out a few other tracks. Good but maybe a bit mellow for me

I think "Classic Rock" radio ruined some really good musicians for me. I got sick of certain overplayed songs, like Stone Me and Tupelo Honey. Therefore I didn't pursue other works by the same musician. Eric Clapton is another. I fucking hate Layla. It drives me into a rage. It may be my loss, but I cant unhear it. At least Tupelo Honey doesn't have quite the same affect.
I hear ya. Overplayed zep killed them for me. I put van in my soul r & b playlist. Gave it new life

I never want to hear Stairway To Heaven or Light My Fire again in my lifetime.
The nice thing about Light My Fire is that your opinion seems universal now. I haven’t heard that song for years and I’m good with that.Quote:

Well I'll be. I go there about on a monthly basis. Going there in a couple weeks in fact. So random!
