I just read the paper this morning and found out that I started skiing in 1990, I've blown my knees out twice each, and my name is Rod. All of which is news to me.
In MY reality, I started skiing in 1984, I've had knee surgery once on each knee, and my name is not Rod. If this many facts can get messed up in a short blurb, do you ever wonder just how much of an average news article is just plain wrong?

Email the editor of the section (Outdoors?, I don't know? I got rid of my subscription to the Salt Lake Mullet Wrapper years ago...) and tell them you want a correction, and not just "we got the name wrong" either.

Make sure that story makes its' way onto YOUR site, too (as published) - and point out the glaring mistakes, untruths, etc. Well done getting the article, but you've got to wonder what "Journalistic integrity" means when the guy's running an article that leaves its' subject confused. :rolleyes:

I like the bit in the report that shows that a recovering meth addict can do something constructive.
EZB, the ball got rolling when one of their freelancers (not the guy who did the story) asked me recently if I was still doing the streak thing.

also, i think this happens more oftne than you think, especially in these little human interest stories. i remember a guy i knew won worlds for slalom in his age group, so the aspen papers interviewed him. this kid was as big of a stoner as you'll meet, and goofy as hell to boot, they had him talking like a ceo. I didnt even have to ask him if it was all bs, although i did anyway.

No, this article didn't. But, the other paper in town - the one Boarderline took pics for last Sat - that reporter originally was interested in a story on as many year round skiers as I could get to meet with him. No one showed any interest so I had meet him alone. Mebbe next time.Quote:

Skiing that often doesn't come without consequences. Cram has had three concussions and several broken bones and has blown out each knee twice, each time requiring surgery.
Some people just don't have the courtesy to show the respect that is due. I don't blame you for being disappointed. Reporters that can't get the simple things right just don't deserve to write.

Boarderline- Nope. It got bumped today for the story about the Sandy AWACS pilot. It's now scheduled for 2 two weeks from today, but you know how that goes.
