Please stop using the Taptalk app if you don’t like the emoji bullshit

It’s that easy.

The app hasn’t been supported in years according to Mods.

My workaround for pictures is to post them from the app with no text at all. If you want to add text, do it in a separate post and spell out your numbers or you get the dreaded emojis.

I literally can’t read half the posts here. With a bit of info no maybe this place can become readable again?

Posted here because it’s a ski forum and many only read this particular forum. I know it’s not stoke. But hoping y’all play this game properly going forward so the stoke can bury the board again without the glitches now that is snowing. Finally.

I’m not sure why anybody would be using the app in the first place. The desktop version works just fine on the iPhone. And you can even change the screen blue if you wanna.

I can’t login on the website. Not on my phone, iPad, or computer. Using the same exact password, I can login to the app no problem. And stay logged in for months. I’ve tried resetting the password, tried different computers, nothing. The app is the only way I can access TGR. So now I just spell out numbers so I don’t get emoji’d

I could be wrong, but I do not think Tapatalk is the problem, it's the TGR-branded app that is the problem (even though the TGR app uses tapatalk). If you use Tapatalk -- and not the "TGR app" -- you should be fine.

I think Danno is right here. I use regular Tapatalk on android with no dumb emoji issues

They both produce the emojis for me on iPhone.
Using the web version of this site on black and white is the only way I don’t produce emojis with any post I make from my phone.

The problem is the latest iPhone update, which by all accounts is a POS. Numbers on Tapatalk and Android work just fine.

Tapatalk on my pixel definitely shows the random numbers. Also, when I right click using chrome (Mac), it thinks TGR is displaying some sort of video cause it gives me these options:

I have the exact same issue. But I’m getting decent at typing out numbers. Also on iPhone and iPad. Apples update seem to be getting worse and worse every time.

Which app? I'm apparently using the TGR Forum app which is not longer available, but transfered to my new phone.

I’ve been using the TGR app for at least ten years. The app keeps transferring to my new phones somehow. I usually upgrade my phone every year or two.

Out of curiosity I just looked in my App Store, I think this means the app hasn’t been made for seven years but tapatalk or even Apple is upgrading it to fix bugs?

Have you tried recently? There was something that changed a bit ago that seemed to help with some login issues. Of course we didn't hear about the people who can't login and stop trying or just read the forum passively.

There have been no upgrades since 2017. I think the best thing to do is to remove it from the app store but I'm not sure how to stop users with the app from using it.

The breaking of attachments with emojis is particularly useless.

Can you check which version of Tapatalk you're using? I didn't think it would be a problem with iOS because it's been updated significantly beyond when the white label TGR app was last updated.

iOS made a change that's not compatible with the old app. TGR never made the app and can't update it if they wanted to. I'd guess their agreement with Tapatalk has expired.

Tapatalk is refusing to rollout updates to it's older apps to push users into paying a subscription fee for premium features. There was a onetime payment for premium users but they've only updated the standard app (+subscription) to be compatible with iOS18.
Probably the best thing to do would be to prevent the app from connecting to the forum, but I'm not sure if there's a way to do that without also breaking the stock Tapatalk app as collateral damage.

Users still running it despite the breaking behavior are like the people out there still trying to run QuickBooks 99 in 2024.

Choose "Reply with quote" on any post

Enter username and password, and make sure to toggle on Remember Me?

That should get you logged in using the website on those devices

I still try to use Tapatalk but it usually won't load recent pages, always goes to 3 month old posts when I open a thread, and then won't move me to the new posts without spinning for 5 minutes.

It is garbage, but opening the page in chrome is a hassle as well

Oh well, keeps my TGR browsing to a dull roar.

Unless I’m just missing it, the mobile website doesn’t have a “new posts” or “unread” link, right? That’s what keeps me on the apps.

Yeah, the Chicklets posts are annoying. Though I've done at least one. Supposedly TRG works okay in a mobile browser and doesn't do the Chicklets thing.
