Look at Indy pass bringing out the brass knuckles. Who would think the multi pass politics and bullshit would be playing out on the small hills in New England like this?
My guess is that the smaller indy's probably FEEL LIKE THEY can't afford to have an additional stream of discounted tickets, hence partnering with one program? Just a guess. But I'm sure that working with Indy probably has some stipulations/limitations to be on board with them, but I won't pretend to know what goes on "the dark side" of that curtain.
Wonder what has happened to Liftopia and if any resorts still post tickets on it? Seems like a thing of the past as well.Quote:

bought Indy this year at the advice of Boston based mag who had a great experience with his family last season. looking forward to trips already to smallplaces my wife skiied in her youth IN NH as well as a few other smaller resort daytrips plus Beav madness in Feb.
Never heard of nor used no Boundaries.
I don't really understand the hullabaloo about this. For one, the Indy product is awesome, and very few, if any, independent mountains complain about their affiliation. That says a lot. But secondarily, why should Indy openly advocate or allow a competitor to encroach on their business? As any hardgood retailer will tell you, you can't just decide to sell every brand under the sun if there are already existing agreements in place within a given market. No one bitches about Never Summer having, in effect, the same contract requirements to sell their product for example.
The reality here is No Boundaries failed because it was an inferior product. At best it was a blatant copy of Indy. This just seems like sour grapes.
Seems like it’s a New England thing with Indy pass as there are a number of Western and midwestern areas on Indy and either the Freedom or Powder alliance passes. Maybe Indy is running a different model for NE.

Wow how did that fly under the radar? What are liftopias operating costs can't be much its the same business model as stubhub almost who take outrageous fees (sometimes 50% of the cut) simply for being a platform for tickets. Not to defend Fail but if that Rob Katz guy farts the industry outlets pick it up and its common knowledge.
Don't feel guilty- they are getting a paying guest (discounted) that would otherwise have not made the trip. But make sure to buy lunch and beers at the lodge and tip your bartender.Quote:

I took my wife there year before last. She's been off skis for a few years due to getting old, gaining weight, and losing her center of balance. She had the best day ever while slowly cruising around and just having fun. I also had one of my best days ever just cruising around with her while she was trying to find it again. Best day skiing in a long time for me happened at Cooper that day. Easy going, mellow terrain, friendly staff, good snow, and great bartenders. Plus a big feed at La Mina on the way out of town to top it off made a good day.
