meh
How could this possibly happen in the wonderful world of bidenomics?
Everyone knows Obama is responsible for the health of Canadian specialty sports companies…

Not remotely surprised. Sucks for their employees, but they were a company who got left behind in just about every aspect of ski touring equipment and made no attempts to keep up. When was the last time anyone here bought something from G3 at full retail price... 5+ years ago?
the industry isnt in a good spot for 'smaller' brands right now. WNDR just laid off a bunch of folks in SLC, DPS laid off a bunch of folks a few months ago, environment at DPS isnt great from my roomate who works there, lots going on, and not suprising given the overstock and deals. I dont know if i've seen this much last years inventory on shelves at 40-50% off ever.
I'm always sorry to see ski brands fail, but with a few notable exceptions G3 has pretty much always offered sub par products.
Jer should swoop in with PMS gear and make a killing.
Ha

Bummer. Never like to see an old school brand fail. I have a couple pairs of Ions and like them a lot.
Basically every other product they have though ranges from forgettable to bad. As others have said, they really haven't done anything to keep up with other companies, haven't come up with anything revolutionary, and haven't attempted to broaden their product base in quite some time.
if you like their bindings they are on super sale right now
i just checked the site and it seems like they aren’t taking orders at the moment.
i can’t refute what people are saying here. they made some good and inexpensive stuff and missed the mark on other products. the issues with their shitty glue went in too long.
still, i appreciate the reasonable prices on stuff i bought over the years and if it’s done ill miss them for that and what they were trying to do with recycled materials.
owned by skiers is a lot cooler than “in receivership” by a huge and faceless multinational.
i also wonder if what happened to bike manufacturers is about to happen to ski brands.
I remember when Oliver was touring around in a big van (before people had big vans) selling the Targa
I still love that binding for my Voile phat waxless / T4 combo for meadow skipping and forest beatering
I also really liked their shovels. Bummer.
I never really considered blocking someone till now.
Another solid shovel company goes down.
I got a pair of skins that came with a ski purchase, glue is pretty gloppy. Wondering if I should try to make them work or try and strip glue and apply a better glue or just buy new skins
If you are are a dentist from Colorado you just buy new skins but IME you can reglue with Goldlabel
You wana have a couple tubes of gold label ahead of time ( the stuff lasts forever in a sealed tube) for when your glue shits the bed cuz at the end of the season its gona be out of stock
so really now is the time to reglue in good weather out on your deck or sft not in january at midnight the day before a hut trip
Sure, not everything they made was up to my excruciatingly high standards, but the Synapse 109 was an awesome ski, Ions and Zeds are as functional and durable as anything out there, their ski crampons are simply the best, their skin attachment system is as good as any, and (after being very dissatisfied, it now having tried most of the competition) issues with their glue has been vastly overstated. I supported them because they were a Canadian company focused on backcountry gear, and I’m sad that they couldn’t keep going. At least it explains why I’ve been getting carpet bombed with discount offers for the past 12 months.
The Slayr is a good ski, arguably one of the best in that weight category. As a company they’ve had hits and misses.
No idea why SB is so relentlessly focused on cementing his dumbass reputation here but bless his heart.
Much the same here. I’ve purchased probes, ski and bindings (currently have a set of slayrs with zeds/tts), skins (never had an issue but between the Koots and here dry snow seems to have fewer issues?). And of course been through a few sets of targas/ascents. Sorry to hear they ran out of gas.
The El Hombres I won in a 2007/8 sweepstakes provided countless life-affirming days on snow. They're only relegated to light rock-ski duty now because they outlasted the bindings that are mounted to them.
Thank you G3. Companies don't last forever, but G3 gear helped oodles of people to get out into wild mountains and find peace in the snow.
Yea G3 trimmer is best trimmer (Pomoca copied?)
G3 skins notorious for doing the opposite of what they were supposed to: stuck to snow instead of sliding, sliding off the bases instead of sticking.
I like their bindings a lot and skin trimmers - I hate to see bc oriented manufacturers go down.
go to bed old man
Blow me kid.
I started using their topsheet mounted tail connectors last season to try out for fun. I find tailclips for splitboards cumbersome and a pain to stuff into and pull out of the pack. They worked pretty good!
Years ago I ordered some replacement tailclips from them, and they accidently sent me a full pair of skins, which I gifted to someone.
Their tutorial/G3 University videos were always entertaining.
site seems to be accepting orders now
I always thought the Craft thing was cool - good way to use up parts
Site not letting me go past the shipping page. Doesn’t seem like they are taking orders…
I'd like to think that they have too much potential for a successful turn around to just have a court liquidate.
Hopefully their debt can be restructured, and hopefully someone can pick them up.
G3 Avitech might be the best shovel ever made
