This show is definitely tops in ridiculousness. It goes off the charts though when they cover a guy having a sweet sixteen party.
On this episode that's on in the background right now, there's this dude who claims to be a divo; a male diva. No!! The 'o' signifies the masculine gender and there's nothing masculine about being a diva.

I saw the one of the chunky black girl who talks nothing but shit to her Mom. Problem is equally with the moronic children and the shitty parenting skills, or lack thereof.
Everytime I see this show it just angers me, "Mom just fucking take me to Paris to get a dress" 1 hour after getting to paris "this suck theres nothing nice, take me to New York............NO WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN, NO? It's my day bitch"

Is it bad or wrong that I wish every girl (and divo) on this show loses every possession they have at a point soon in their life? They all deserve it.
I've only seen bits and pieces of that show, but my god! Every time I gape at the screen, thinking this can't be real, why do people go to these parties, why is this on television?! That girl (article) is the epitome of all I despise.

Last week MTV had a decent special on the situation in New Orleans and then it went straight into the Sweet 16 show. After being bummed out about N.O. it was really nice to see a bunch of spoiled brats act like complete assholes. It made me want to go out and buy something, maybe a new Ipod.
I think the real nut cases are the parents that raise these kids, pay for them to be spoiled rotten, and then let MTV make a TV show out of it all. I wonder if they watch the show and see the stupidity. Probably not.
As much as I can't stand the show I think it would be interesting to re-visit the brats again in about 5 years to see if they change.
Many years ago I went to a stupid huge Sweet 16 party for the local mafia princess from my high school, and she got a Mustang convertible as the big gift. I recently found out that she's a strung-out dirty hippy in Oregon, her parents are divorced, her Dad is in jail, and her Mom is unemployed and broke.
My youngest daughter likes that show in a cartoon-y kind of way. Thankfully, she's grounded enough to see the idiocy in it.
The idiot parents make me want to jab a pencil in my eye.
Don't fret; kids like that are who many of us will make our money off of in the not-so-distant future.

Oh the horror.....my wife watches that show and hides the remote from me like a sick torture ritual. I cringe, squirm, and attempt to slice my veins anywhere on my body anytime I hear the opening credits. When I saw the episode with that 'chubby' black girl, I almost jumped threw the screen to strangle her.
....I keep thinking that this can't be real....its made up...please tell me its made up. For example, when that girl got the convertible BMW at HER PARTY!!! What kind of parent does that? I can see giving her a nice car, but to shove it into the face of all the guests?????? FKNA. I had to laugh though, when she kept saying how 'cool' she'll be at school having that car....they should implant a laugh track into the show during re-runs.
I want to see what these kids think of this show 5 years from now, then 10....I'm betting at least half do the quad daffy off the Golden Gate Bridge.

MTV pay for anything? ha. Why do you think those ex-Road Rules and ex-Real World people keep doing things like the Gauntlet? It's their only income - they got $500/week doing Real World. I have a friend who was on the 2nd Real World (LA) and keeps doing things like The Gauntlet - She gets paid $20k and an extra bonus for making it through each challenge.
edit to add: So if MTV is paying anything toward the Sweet 16 budget, it's MAYBE 10k. I could find out with one call, if anyone is really interested.

This show is hilarious. These people are all so disconnected from reality it's amazing.
My favorite episode was the one (from last season, I think) with the tennis player kid. He'll never live that one down. What a little bitch-boy.
