Maggot down

On the 20th June, my ski buddy Simon Nurrish (brownmonkey on here) flew an aircraft into the Superstition Mountains, just outside Apache Junction, AZ. Snowlerblading action hero Gaper Stu (Stuart Gregory) was in the back. Both were killed instantly.

Some of you will have met Simon and Stu at various TGR summits of the Noughties. Both were great blokes who could always be guaranteed to raise a laugh.

I skied all over the world with Simon and got into numerous other scrapes and adventures with him. He rose up through the ranks of Bank of America and became COO of their Merchant Services division. It was a very important role and demanded a professional approach at all times.

He loved the Maggot vibe and was an avid reader here and sometime poster. He also loved his PM Gear Bro Models and they travelled the world with him. Even if he did manage to break one landing on my head.

The full NTSB report will take a while to compile, but he leaves behind a wife, Pari, and a whole host of friends around the globe who loved the bones of the guy.

Simon and Stu had been friends for nearly 30 years and both embraced and loved their lives in the US. It's taken me a bit of time to get round to writing this. It's hard to lose good friends, especially in something as sudden and jarring as these circumstances.

Take a run for these two guys this winter.

So sorry to read this sad news.. Simon was great fun to ski and apre with and a excellent conversationalist... I know you 2 were close friends... He and Stu will be missed.

Not sure what to say. I also enjoyed Simon's company the time or two I met him. Thanks for letting us know. I will take my Bro Models out for a lap or two this winter in their honour.

I’m very sorry Roo. I know how much you loved your brother in adventure. He was a good egg and always had a smile on his face. He sure seemed to enjoy the hell out of life. Good for him. Hope it’s a pow day tomorrow for him.

Was always hoping for another bad roo post. This one sucks. I missed how entertaining brown monkey and gaper Stu and you were on the forum. I can only imagine irl highjinks.

Sorry for the loss of your friend and adventure partner, it looks like a lot of interesting times. So tough when someone leaves this world due to an accident leaving no time for proper goodbyes.

Damn. I'm so sorry to hear it Roo. I feel like I might have met the crew at some point back at KW around 03-04 or so. I always loved hearing the TR's of you three going on some mission and getting into some kind of scrape, nimbly walking the line between a hilarious misdemenor and lewd felony. They will be missed.

And don't be a stranger around these parts either. A lot of us OG's are still around the campfire.

Wow. So sorry to hear this. I remember the posts of all of your adventures together well. They were always entertaining and inspiring.

Sorry to hear and vibes to their families and those who knew them. Wish I'd a met them, gone too soon.

Thanks all. They were both genuinely funny blokes and Simon skied with a bunch of the old crew from here (Mulletizer, idris, truth, Gordy, lph etc).

He did have a penchant for the spectacular crash, whether on skis or while driving on the Nurburgring, so when he started air racing training I was a little concerned.

You make a good point, DJ. Sorry to back with bad news. It's good to see so many familiar names and faces. I'm based down in Melbourne, Australia now. Snow can be a little on and off down here.

A classic style TR from a visit to the outback would be hall of fame material. Snow activities were prefered, but we never a requirement.
